Man what? She's actually getting more clout now, because of Chloe's solo direction, more people are actually anticipating Halle than her.
That plus The Little Mermaid
@safe @DonutHole @Warren_Peace
Well let's start with this:
1. Going the Solo Direction when them as a duo was starting to build a dedicated fanbase for their music. Me personally, I don't subscribe to the idea that they were not getting attention towards their music. Cause if you had seen how much they sold from their first album "The Kids Are Alright" to Ungodly Hour, They went from sitting at number 139 on BB 200 to number 16 with 24k first week. Not the best, but it showed that people were starting to check out their music and invest in them as artists. Plus Do It was their first single to finally hit the Hot 100 charts at number 63.
So they were going at organic pace with their direction as a duo. Mind you, they had visuals, ideas, plans for the rollout, and a themes done before hand at the end of 2019. And it resulted in good commercial success.
With this new solo direction that Chloe's going with. It's completely obvious that her team had no ideas going forward after Have Mercy. Because her and Parkwood are trying any idea to make her blow up with these blatant PR stunts. Like her and Gunna trying to start a Bey and Jay moment with "U & Me" when DS4 dropped but nobody gave a s*** about that track or them as a potential couple, even hip hop blogs point it out that it was ploy for her second single. They did that in the meantime until her second single rollout started and that s*** flopped. Or we can talk about the Lollipop video, or we can talk about the toilet picture. Or the fact that the Treat Me video looks like a budget softcore music video. OR THE FACT THAT CHLOE HAD TO GET ON IG LIVE TO ASK HER FANS WHAT SHOULD BE HER NEXT SINGLE?!?!?! LIKE NIGGA WHAT?!?!?!?!
It's clear that Chloe, Parkwood, and Columbia decided to jump the shark into this direction after the success of the Buss It Challenge and Have Mercy thinking it will get her to have mainstream success, but no it's backfiring because it's f***in impossible for an artist like her to have that success yet, especially when her and her sister still have a very low fanbase that supports their music. If they wanted her to go solo meanwhile Halle was still on film set for The Little Mermaid, THEY SHOULD'VE DONE A F***IN EP SO THEN IT WOULD'VE ALLOWED FANS TO SEE ARE INTERESTED IN CHLÖE'S SOLO MUSIC!!!!!!!!!! IF NOT, MOVE ON TO CXH3!!! Like bro, Billie Ellish put out a EP first before trying to do an album like what??!?!?!? BUT NO, THESE F***IN LABELS ARE SO DAMN BUSY TRYING TO HAVE A HUGE SOLO DEBUT THAT THEY CAN BANK FROM CHLOE
Everything about this was premature that it's f***in hilarious.
2. The singles and timing of the singles.
Honestly, I didn't like Have Mercy that much, but I thought it was a decent first single to start off, but then they should've came back with a single that everybody would've loved, something that would've been interesting and relatable, but still catchy for mainstream listeners, that should've been the song that Chloe previewing now "For the Night". But instead we got a poorly mixed and messy ass bounce song in Treat Me. Then released a song like Surprise, which is a good R&B song, but tbh that should've came out back in Valentines Day instead of that boring ass "U & Me" track. And why the f*** Treat Me came 7-8 months after Have Mercy. If they actually had a strategic plan, they would've had Have Mercy come out like it did first, but then a song that connects with everybody and that is interesting in January, then Surprise on Valentines Day, then lastly a summer single like Treat Me in April/May.
Like bro, it's clear that she wanted to have this album out this year and so far it's failing and its shaping up to be not to be released this year unless something changed.
And mind you I haven't even talked about her image yet. They'll be more in the essay.
But at the end of the day, my opinions probably won't matter (especially when I'm not as successful as her), because this is what she wants and we just have to sit back and see if things actually start shaping up.
So maybe her and her team not making mistakes, but they damn sure making some stupid ass decisions.
Thanks for tagging me in this
I agree with your assessment
I remember a speech by Beyonce where she talked about how proud she is of chloe/halle for leading with talent and being successful
There whole branding was centered around how (vocally) talented they were so they don't need to sell s***to succeed
Alot of their early fans wanted to see them win for that reason, beautiful girls making it with vocal talent and class, à la Whitney Houston ,old school RnB
Chloe dissociated from that image abruptly and received backlash for it
Instead of doing what would be smart for her career (lay low)...
...she went on social media and cried about it (literally cried)
I think the backlash made her double down on the s***kitten/tik tok sensation image instead of locking in with knowledgeable people in the industry and other artists/producers to come up with a good strategy for her first solo album
It's sad cuz her marketing strategy seems amateurish, everyone's sees right thru it ( gunna collab with forced relationship rumors)
Either her label is trash or they're clashing and at a stand still
They all need to go back to the drawing board
For her sake I hope she doesn't get shelved
Imo Chloe doesn't even need "good music", she needs CROSSOVER HITS
And no one will care about any of this lol
This is where her label is failing as well
They need to set her up with producers writers to craft HITS
Even Beyonce used to be criticized for forcing the sexual image
Other singers like madonna, rihanna as well
No one cares now

THIS, THIS, AND THIS!!!!!!
I kept saying this to many Bey fans, and they told me that I was crazy, but if they actually took off the f***ing Rose Tinted Glasses, they could easily see this s*** is a f***ing mess.
It's the reason why I'm finishing this essay when and if not the album comes out, because things need to change, and sadly nobody would give a s*** anyway, because it's clear that Chloe don't care about artistry now
She wants to get big and famous, so this is what we going to have to suffer seeing.
I feel more bad for her sister

What clout tho? IG likes?
I'm taking a Disney film over anything Chloe's been doing the past year. Some of those live action remakes make a $1B+. It's a musical too so she'll be credited all over the soundtrack. You can't ask for much more at 22
She's the sister with the more obvious solo route rn

That plus the music she's been previewing lately been way better than the s*** we be getting with Chloe lately.

If the movie is good and hits with the audience sure, otherwise it would just be another Disney remake in a sea of mid
Cinderella seemed like a good career move for the singer Cabello but it got panned hard and was dead on arrival (all theatrical releases cancelled , straight to streaming)
Beauty and the beast (2017) grossed a billion dollars with mixed reviews especially for the leads (Emma Watson) acting and singing and Emma s still considered a mediocre actress coasting off of Harry Potter Fame
The lead for Aladin (grossed over a billion as well) said he has trouble finding work as an actor... I don't even remember his name 💀
Lion king probably grossed over a billion and got panned as well
Those Disney movie's making money (even a billion dollars) doesn't mean much nowadays, it's crazy out here

fair
I personally don't like Disney's remakes but I think it helps Halle is going into it relatively quietly and is being introduced to most of the audience who will be watching, which isn't really the case for the others.
Like Lion King did bad critically but the cast were all well-known, took their Disney dollars, made soundtracks and ran. Aladdin's star was also technically Will Smith, which makes it hard for the other dude cus people didn't show for him. In the end Halle just needs to use this to launch herself and will be going right back in to either ChloexHalle or build into a solo album so her route is easier to pave. Her team needs to take advantage of her being the face of this and having people like Lin Manuel Miranda working on soundtrack
Cinderella is the most comparable since it's a singer leading too but Cabello already had the years of success with a group, then went solo and had a diamond hit by the time the film came out. Bad luck with COVID too. Halle is just beginning to build an audience and get looks
edit: wait Cinderalla (2021) was not a Disney film lol it was on Prime Video. The Disney one in 2015 was Lily James' breakout film role
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella_(2015_American_film).
Y’all really hate women
Ain't nobody told her to do that thirsty ass s*** fr
Tru, but I’m also sayin her team shoulda restrained the temptation to launch her solo career when her sister went away
Her sister about to get that Disney check
Just realized soundtrack being done by Lin Manuel Miranda...Dude just took Encanto to #1 on BB200 and Hot 100 last year. Forget the film, this might also be her major music moment if things go okay
No wonder they ran to launch Chloe. All the work is being done for Halle already. She'll basically have new music out as well with original songs done by a known hitmaker
I think people in 2022 vastly underestimate how hard it is to get someone's music career off the ground.
One day, label heads will understand that twitter engagement and going viral because you look good does not mean people want to listen to your songs.

Think this too, they were trying their best to make Halle to be the Solange of the group while Chloe to be Beyonce, when clearly Halle has a chance to be a huge star along with Chloe, if her and her team stop it with the bullshit and actually start doing things organically again like they did in the Ungodly Hour era.
I hope that Halle blows up and makes great ass music to show how idiotic they are to not try to plan out Chloe's rollout.
I'm so f***ing angry about this, because now people are just looking at Chloe like she's a joke when clearly she's a whole lot to offer, but instead she wanted the fame so bad that she'll go the easy route to get there.

This is true, but at the same time, this is Beyoncé's record label. Most of the people on her team had been with her since the beginning, so how the f*** they're not being strategic with Chlöe's direction and music.

I mean,
I'm not going to sit here and say I know more than they do, but I have done some intern stuff before.
it's truly wild how little labels know when it comes to getting an artist's music buzzing. They look at social media metrics and engagement and correlate that to sales and that really doesn't work, especially with hot girls.
No one really cares about Chloe's music and that to me is the issue and the label would move differently if they realized that but instead they take her going viral for her looks as "fans" wanting to hear her music.

I agree, it's just like how you guys think this s*** out and think her social media interactions is proof that music fans want to hear her music like what?

I swear if I had money and success and was in those rooms. I'll be on this energy.
These niggas is dumb

Halle thriving rn
Chloe way too talented to be putting out the generic Tik Tok/radio bait they have her doing
I don’t see the big deal. I think she’s doing great
Why she look like she held hostage for an onlyfans.
Also another thing if they were this serious about making Chloe a star she wants to be. Why the f*** did they have Chloe perform at a Saks Private Event with no viewers or cameras meanwhile Halle perform the national anthem at NFL Kickoff with millions of viewers watching.
Like F*** bro, is you serious?
