this track in particular reminds me of Gunz n Butter, I guess from the sample playing in the background. it feels like JPEGMAFIA’s LP! is exactly what Rocky was trying to do with Testing. I really like Testing, Rocky is one of my favorite rappers, but I think Peggy outdid him by a wide margin on this album- it feels more natural rather than trying to force an experimental sound
edit:
i mean ig what you're saying but they both did it
rocky just did his himbo version of it nothing wrong w that
Favorite song from LP. I kind of get what your saying.
Peggy does that trippy soulful sound with ease and it doesn’t sound force

Yeah it’s like when you listen to the full album, they sound very similar in style and what they’re going for. And Peggy uses really smooth flows over oddball beats on almost every track, which makes me think about them even more. And there’s a focus on incorporating boom bap sounding drums over the unique samples and stuff, again another thing I associate with Rocky. Also how he pitch shifts his vocals down on a few tracks
No criticism really, just something that caught my attention and got me thinking

Yeah I’m not hating at all. Both are great albums

thanks man, I’ve been thinking about it for forever. I just love discussing music and putting people on. I appreciate people always showing me love on here.
I just like evoking a response out of people or have them see stuff from my point of view lol

speaking of scale. this song feels f***ing massive and the sense of scale is just incredible. s*** is epic
I will always take the opportunity to post this song when I can
!https://youtu.be/2CGFU1lBdCIWhole album is probably a 10 for me. Normally on his projects there’s always a bunch of tracks that I enjoyed but never go back to. LP! on the other hand has me always coming back. It may be because it’s not as abstract as his other work and so it’s easier to keep hitting repeat. More “normal” song structures, minimal singing, it’s mainly just Peggy rapping his ass off. Like this album is very easy to play in your car, and there’s lots of stank face moments. So for me, I think it’s a nearly perfect album
I’d sooner compare it to All My Heroes Are Cornballs
Two of my fav rap albums ever

I feel like that album is a little too abstract to compare to Rocky tbh. LP! was full of normal rapping, just over crazy and creative beats
Honestly I just think the mainstream artists can't make experimental music as good as the experimental artists
never thought about it but they pretty much occupy the same musical niche genre wise
