so this makes the weeknd and the people he worked with for those three mixtapes the best music makers in a past period of time, ergo he was and by definition still is a goat based on being the greatest for some time, disregarding the fact he fell off some time after being the goat
you could tell by the vibe and decadent attitude of the vocal simpularities that this guy the weeknd has a talent, a talent of singing not music making the credit to that should probably go to someone else. what happens when you got music singing talent but not music making talent? your other s*** becomes wack so yes full total complete freedom to a guy just because hes got a good singing talent means recipe for disaster. you need prove? just look at the songs “ blinding lights” and “heartless”

now we come to the next point of topic: labels SHOULD put some kind of restriction on artists because some artists are goofies who make what they want which isnt necessarily good
if an artist isnt held down he makes whatever he wants and you indefinitely get a complete garbage project because these artists dont necesarily have to listen to other peoples opinions on whether a pirce of music is good or not. so thats why we need a check or leash of some sorts for talented singers

and then theres another thing: artists should be allowed to change genre (for example going pop after r&b) this in itself isnt a problem (look at beauty behind the madness and views, both good projects with good songs on it) but when you make pop music it doesnt automatically mean that its good, as with all music dont judge it based on genre. it has to be good music INSIDE of the genre and preferrably outside too. just because its pop doesnt make it bad and just because its hiphop doesnt make it good and people who think otherwise are closeminded shallow individuals and probably xenophobes too

I don't really get your point. People don't dislike music simply because of the genre. When someone says "I hate country music" there's like a 99% chance they mean they hate how the music that's typically classified as country sounds.
