He doesn't use a shock collar for her. He does have a vibration collar that she is trained to know that means she needs to return back to him if she gets too far away and can't hear him if shes free roaming outside

He consistently uses a "place" command so that she sleeps on her bed instead of the hardwood floor to protect her joints
