I have two gay friends I have been in the car with while they were driving. Both used their backup camera to park. On that same note, all the straight drivers I have been in a car with have NEVER used their backup camera, only the mirrors. Now of course this is a small sample size, but I thought I'd share my experience.

It’s a good tool for precisely backing up. Into parking spaces, parallel parking, s*** like that. For broad movement it’s recommended and obviously safer to look behind you. That wide angle lens isnt as wide as being able to look past the passenger window to see incoming cars as you’re backing out. But as you’re backing out and reaching close to a car that’s parked behind you, side mirrors and back camera are perfect.

I do occasionally back up manually to keep myself from getting rusty
