I'm sure if you made a groundbreaking song with the audience that he had you would get a rolling stone, pitchfork, billboard, stereogum etc etc cosigns lol
responding to this would be a waste of energy because it is literally the most common sense s*** I can think of
Also nobody is denying the quality of the music.
Its just that he obviously has the label machine behind him.
You dont rise in the industry in half an hour stop being f***ing stupid
having a label push your record does not make you a plant
it’s not even anything to be ashamed of at all

The song went viral almost 6 months ago stop saying half an hour dumb f***
ITT: dudes are somehow shocked that a label/publication would try to jump on a song like Rascal fast after Old town road was literally the biggest hit on earth

Nobody is saying thats a bad thing.
People are making an observation.
This guy comes out of nowhere, with no songs, makes a quirky song so it goes viral, and gets all the high profile rap features in 6 months.
And it hurts him as an artist imo
Normally whether youre a plant or not means nothing to me and i think its one of more annoying conversations in music.
But man there is something really disingenuous about him and idk how to really describe it. Him having the style that he has but also being so blatantly industry backed makes it feel like an SNL skit or like a parody artist in a movie and not someone who genuinely is just doing something different.
where did this guy come from, like was his very first single pushed by a label? was he signed to a label before he even started making music?

but by yall own definition...
he’s literally not a plant. simple. period.

I think he had a song or two on soundcloud.
Got signed to a label, deleted the loosies, got the brand image from the label, and dropped rascal.

made a country/r&b fusion/boyband type record that blew up. I mean how could it not
and why would a label not want to push it
The only way I could accept this dude would be a plant is if it came out he was some record exec’s son or some s***
Yall have pointed out ZERO plant activity. NONE
Slingshot malding itt
I would just like somebody to bless me with a solid argument? If yall gon keep making these threads?

the only thing im wondering about is like, it takes far longer than 2 months typically to write, sign, and finalize a contract to a label, no less to write, sign, and finalize arbitration, copyright, royalties, etc for each major artist signed to a major label on top of that. the time between those things happening is a little bit suspicious, the music industry def doesnt work that fast unless theres at least some level of pre-existing business

Honestly I thought this would have happened sooner. you would expect them to move fast with Rascal being such a viral moment
Still took 5-6 months, we only seeing the big push now

that's fair. more than likely if were being realistic the guy was working with a management & PR agency and already had everything setup to find & sign to a label and then found and signed to one and had everything expedited.
I mean his whole single is a cover of a famous country song
Random people aren't getting that sample cleared
At least he didn't coopt Floyd's death to get out of a label dispute like Juicy J though

this the only sensical thing I heard so far
Smart mask gimmick
If the push doesn't work he can just throw his suit back on and resume his job at Warner
