It matters for them because everything you like about prime Neptunes beats aside from the chords is attached to the drum sounds and patches vs picking some generic ass sounds off a laptop

The people you named make cool beats but they aren’t as polarizing or jarring for their time as 00’s Neptunes beats. Producers not using hardware is a whole nother topic tho cuz they’d probably be better with it also

Disagree, off top something like I serve the base or off die lit or wlr can be seen as just as “jarring” because at least to me in music using trap drums or whatever you want to call it there’s stuff that stick out a lot. Obviously there’s more maybe someone who really wants to have this convo can pick up after this. Everybody always say the era they grow up with was this and that to put down what’s happening now whether they realize it or not. What’s polarizing to you may not be polarizing to someone growing up today and vice versa. I’m tired of this convo same thing again and again it’s boring. Bottom line is niggas gonna innovate no matter what tools we’re given. I’m saying this as a huge Neptunes fan too

    Idk

Guys like filthy and whoever did those Carti beats are def talented but niggas just remixing ethos that have been in the game for years with the goth rock distorted s***.

Niggas like timbo, Mannie, Neptunes, etc while 70’s-80’s influenced it wasn’t nothing in rap at the time that sounded like it.

P and them regressing by going to software only imo. Even tho I don’t even think Chad is on this

Same time tho more I listen to this s*** I’m f***ing with it even the Ferg song

the beats on here were all trash except for the last song and the first one but I only liked Rocky's part. Arya was alright but man everything was so terrible.

Where’s that string sample on More Tonight from? Swear I heard that at the end of a song before.

  • Mar 28, 2022

This album is clearly inspired at least. Actually wanna give it a second listen. That intro is hard as f*** y’all hate on Rocky too much.

He doesn't sound very present for me on the instrumental. Like other drill rappers' vocals just stand out in the mix. Idk personal preference but the songs not bad

  • Mar 29, 2022

Heavy is probably the most divisive song Lil Uzi has dropped
