obviously if you in this section who doesn't yk but I can't express just how much I actually love watching movies.

the realization of this came after i rewatched Asteroid City by Wes Anderson and whats crazy is that i've always thought Wes Anderson is overrated for the praise he receives, and his movies just aren't that good. But on rewatch I don't know why I just felt so attached to this movie ESPICALLY after the last 30 minutes, and the "Just keep telling the story" sequence. You could feel just how personal that entire scene was, it genuinely felt like a direct message to not the audience, but specifically the individual watching the movie. It was genius and easily one of the best moments I've witnessed this year in cinema.

Even though I feel like I'm missing something in Asteroid City I can't help but feel like it was meant for me lmaooo, like the director was specifically trying to convey a message to me that I don't even know. Maybe its just some narcissism but regardless nothing makes me feel this way.

I think if you haven't seen Asteroid City you guys should.

So you’re someone who was spooked about Covid in 2020? That’s who I felt Wes was talking to in asteroid city. I thought it was okay but could have been better. At this point of his careers since grand Budapest hotel all his movies feel like he’s trying to recreate that but keeps coming short with his post modern breason and Tati influenced style. I also didn’t like how asteroid city was packed with great tattled actors but none got to shine and all felt the same. I would like to see more of their unique acting styles in Wes Anderson world. Instead of it feeling like Wes Anderson abducted Hollywood and brainwash them to put into his movies. To me that’s what made his characters in his early work so great, they weren’t all the same. The royal tenabaums family didn’t all act like non expressive
robots, they all had their own personality.

I watched 2001 w my pops last weekend and that s*** blew me away. I hadn’t seen it since I was like 15 so I didn’t really appreciate how incredible and ahead of its time that movie is. Really felt like Kubrick took a camera into space. Shoutout my dad for birthing a fascination in space in me forever ago

truthfully not at all but i think trying to digest the movie in that way does it a disservice. i think simply it’s a movie about loneliness and jus the idea of being apathetic and alienated from the world in some way.

i never thought of covid but maybe you’re right subconsciously.

the reason i think it’s a disservice because i don’t think actors should always have a star moment, but to act like scarlett, margot, jason, and adrien didn’t have amazing performances is kind of unfair.

i just think the last 30 minutes specifically is perfect and i think wes anderson entire style was practically perfect there
