    I disagree.

You think there are only two or three highly creative artists in each genre?

I think if you ask the dedicated fans of a genre and not causal fans the list is smaller than we think. He missing some names but not that many.

Because they aren’t. If you listen to rap across the genre it’s derivative as hell

Freddie, Griselda, Boldy, Roc Marci etc all make great music but they make the same type of music. Structurally, productionwise and subject matter.

Thug, Future, Roddy, Lil Wayne and all the other derivatives can’t all be credited.

All you have is a few creatives and some derivative.

The artist OP names as far as rap isn’t stagnant sonically and that’s a major reason why they are considered more creative because they take more risk.

To me at least, TP became less creative with their new album. I don’t know who the other guy is

I see your point. I think its because rap is much more saturated than indie and its easier to pop. There are probably 1000 fake tame impalas thats not gaining any traction where as in hiphop every thug/youngboy influenced artist reaches some sort of platform

That’s true I don’t follow those other genres intently enough but I’m sure dedicated fans would share the same sentiment of their genre. You’re right.
