Imagine going back and telling yourself in 2015 that Drake & Kendrick would end up going at it but in the end it would be a net negative for hip-hop and would end up pulling in the reddit mod types and null & void alot of new wave hip-hop and ultimately in the end would leave hip-hop stranded with nowhere to go in the long run you wouldn’t believe me

How did the Drake Kendrick beef “kil”l hip hop? I don’t get this take? Hip Hop is in a weird place right now because none of the new rappers are doing anything really creative. That has nothing to do with Drake and Kendrick.

i would’ve believed you that Drake would somehow play in the part of hip hop’s deterioration but not in the way it played out

I think the impact that event had felt so climatic and a social phenomenon that its hard to imagine something peaking something like that

its the lack of creativity as well like you said. but the heights on that beef will probably never happen again.
it felt like the final chapter to “legacy rappers”

Every Kanye release i was so locked in on it. Vultures just felt like any other album

The issue is you are thinking of a numbers game when the root cause lies in the abstract nature of the human spirit

    Blonded radio run.

Frank caught lightning in a bottle with that era. Everything from the art direction, set list curation & singles were so beautiful and meticulous.

I actually think it was the opposite, Drake v Kendrick brought back some vitality and truly competitive spirit to the genre that was sorely missing
