    Industry too divided nowadays

    honestly its the opposite
the game is so friendly now that theres no point in doing a posse cut
what's the novelty in a drake x lil baby x durk x thug x gunna x future x travis song when those artists have all made multiple songs together before, even if it wasnt all of them at once

e.g. 1 train was asap rocky's first song with every one of those featured artists. that was part of the appeal

also a lot of posse cuts (especially remixes) were engineered by labels to bring different regions together and get the main artist play outside their home region. that is no longer an issue because regionalism is dead in hip hop and everything is the same grey trap sludge. unless you are somebody like alphonse pierre who thinks 1 housing project in new york putting their 808s 10% faster than everybody else constitutes a new regional subgenre

Yeah there’s no novelty with today’s hip hop artists.

    +1. Really great breakdown here.

The next best thing is cross-genre collaborations now.

A lost art. What were some of your favorites?

Got damn Wiz’s flow in the early 10s was impeccable, sometimes he wasn’t even rhyming but that s*** sounded harder than rhyming
