There’s like 5 good songs on it the rest is repetitive garbage, personally I liked pre ST carti more than ST & die lit. Wlr to now has been a huge improvement to me but I understand how people prefer the first two projects
I'm sorry bro but I just looked at the tracklist again and there are at least 19 fire songs on there
I think the bars are better but most of the beats leave a lot to be desired for me personally. I liked when he made really wavy fly s***. His new s*** sound like some s*** I’d much rather hear future on. I also hate the edgy goth aesthetic too. It all lacks identity imo. I guess it’s all based on preference tho
I’ve never been a big fan of Pierre Bournes beats outside of a few. They’re very simple, stock and generic idk how or why people gravitate towards it outside of the easy listening factor. The best songs on ST & die lit are from other producers

Long time, RIP (is okay), lean 4 real, love hurts, mileage, flatbed freestyle, no time & rip fredo. That’s 8 that I like so I guess it’s not totally trash
Self Titled is alright but it sounds like a lot of s*** that was coming out around the time. Carti wouldve been left behind had he not progressed from this
its an arguable peak of all that music in that era though, and he was bringing the best out of every feature and also giving out defining features left and right (plug, fetti, etc). This record has magnolia, wokeuplikethis, and location - some of the biggest 'mumble rap' songs ever officially released. And those are only the ones with around half a billion streams on spotify alone. Basically solidified the sub genre as legitimate alongside LIR2 for the first time.
I agree with you, but I understand why missing that era of carti is common
honestly some of the greatest music ears have ever been blessed with. I think some of us are lying to ourselves when they say WLR is better
I understand why anyone would prefer wlr, theyre way too different making it really opinion based, but I 100% take die lit as well
Better bars better beats better structure. Nigga used to make sound fx music saying nothing just throwing adlibs everywhere over repetitive loops. Fan of it all but he’s only gotten better imo
are you saying you listen to carti for his bars?
Die lit is trash his new s*** is his best yet yall need to grow up
I do like WLR much more than Die S***, but the stuff I've heard the past couple years have been pretty ass to me.

I can’t call them generic or stock but they are simple, which is apart of the appeal. I think the biggest draws are his melodies and that bounce (for lack of a better word) his beats got. Can’t think of any other producers with bounce like that. It’s playful, fun and hard all at the same time
EA is one of his best beats ever and pretty much encapsulates everything I love about his production
Anyways I’ve found that most people either love Pierre or hate him, usually no in between lol
This is the worst excuse of all time and it’s used for everything now, not just music lol.
At the time, I thought WLR was his best work and now I realize it’s not. Nothing to do with nostalgia. His new s*** is better than WLR but it’s still not great either. These days, he’s experimenting with a sound that I really don’t think suits his strengths the best
Every time an artist drop some new s*** yall feel obligated tk be onboard with it or else you’ll (falsely) feel like a victim of nostalgia. Truth is that not all artists get better with time. Artists you consider great can indeed regress
idk how an album growing off of you makes my point of people viewing eras of an artists through a hazy lens any less true
mind you, i feel and relate with all of y'all as someone who was around at the time and i get it, but i also love what carti brings to the table now despite how different it is
are you saying you listen to carti for his bars?
Absolutely not but it’s impressive to see how much he’s focused on raps instead of flooding his music with adlibs like he’s done his entire career

You're aware the ad libs are part of the entire package right? Even if you cut 50% of the ad libs in his first projects they were just be bad
This is like when dudes in the early 2010s complained about too many hi hats everywhere
You don't have to like it, but you can articulate why you don't like it in a more legitimate way
I love every carti era 2015 SoundCloud - 2024 deep voice
Same tbh. Even if he rarely drops Hes extremely consistent

Ea is an incredible beat and my favorite Pierre beat. To each his own man we like what we like

I never said I dislike the use of adlibs but I think it’s cool that in his current sound he barely uses them and puts the focus on the lyrics as opposed to filling in space with audible sound fx. Each carti era is special and this current is my favorite yet, very excited to hear what’s next

I assumed "just throwing ad libs everywhere" was a critique against it, like what a lot of people were trying to complain about back in that era
I also am excited to see whats next, I fw all his recent singles and almost think his later leaks are his best work
dweebs always trying to box themselves in by their age, b**** imma enjoy what i want to until i die!
Real nigga s***
Hba diff day and 2024 better than anything in his discog he’s only getting better
Yep

part of why i didn’t like it that much when it dropped aside from the big songs
years later though i’m still playing songs off it it’s grown to be nostalgic for me
