Play with the sound off. Helped me when I was a kid
I get what you mean but you just gotta try that s*** at an early age and just go through the motions fr lmao the resident evil games had me on edge growing up only played that s*** because it was the cool thing at the time and when I finally got RE4 s*** had me looking behind my back type s***
wish I can go back to that man lol
I remember dead island also being slightly scary also s*** was crazy real for when it came out
I've also struggled with this, and like you I'm a huge horror genre fan in general. Horror is by far my favorite movie genre, I watch like 80% of new horror movies in theaters
I've only had success with a few, like Dead Space remake and RE3 remake
I REALLY want to play all the rest of the Resident Evil games but can never get far. 7 is so cool to me but I just get stuck
i’m watching different folks play requiem and holy f*** i could never play that s*** man WHAT

Grace sections sure I can see it
But Leon’s? Lmao that action looks straight out of John Wick
I’m a hypocrite though because I was able to get through Scorn without a hitch, but I’ve never beaten RE4 remake because just the thought of playing it fills me with dread for some reason
Guess I’ve gotten soft
(on the other hand, it shows they did an outstanding job with RE4R
)

RE4R? It's basically a comedy. You got something against bingo?

Dude I think it’s got something to do with Ashley stressing me tf out
I did beat the original though.
really would love to play RE2 remake someday but i don’t think it’ll happen man
Currently playing Hogwarts Legacy but been in the mood for a break from open world games (I'm starting Spiderman 2 after I finish Hogwarts) and something more linear. Think RE2 might be the move, maybe Doom
I played a bit of it and RE2 not really scary imo, more panic/anxiety inducing. Zombies are slow but you'll be panicking because you need to line your shot up and you can't move while aiming. Big mf chasing you around while you're trying to loot/find out where to go
that’s crazy to me
i recently have discovered i have epilepsy and one of the main things that causes me to seize is if i’m too overwhelmed/stressed out
i feel like that adds another layer of stress while im playing games
Okay nvm stay away from RE7
@op I got inspired and grinded through RE2 over the weekend. Really glad I did, I feel like I’m turning a corner
my first introduction to the horror genre was outlast
i didn’t know what i was getting into and was quite shocked to say the least. but i kept going and finished it in one sitting
the second outlast wasn‘t really a problem for me either and i enjoyed it as well
the RE games however give me really bad anxiety that makes it hard for me to play. it genuinely stresses me out so bad i have to take a break every few minutes
i think it‘s mostly because of the areas and how small they seem. i feel trapped in the PD and it makes everything worse
the game isn‘t even close to outlast in terms of horror, but something about it just gives me more anxiety

not all the way there yet, but i just played 4 hours of RE2 in one sitting which is more than double the time i put in it before today..
that said, i was in a party with a friend while playing, but progress is progress
PS f\*\*\* Mr. X that nigga needs to go

found this comment under a silent hill video and it describes the way my brain works pretty well. it also explains why i beat outlast and PT demo with no problems but struggle with survival horror like RE and SH
maybe you can relate @op
I won't be playing pure first person horror games like RE7 and RE8, but I did play the RE2, RE3 and RE4 remakes this past week and it wasn't bad at all. I think RE2 was the scariest (but also the most boring one). I might get RE Requiem at some point. I don't know if TLOU counts as "horror" but if it does then I would say TLOU was my introduction to games with zombies/freaks in tight spaces and that later on opened me up to try the Resident Evil remakes.

Requiem is spookier than RE2 overall but I think the RPD Station section is flawless

Yeah, based on the few videos I’ve seen, Requiem definitely looks scarier than RE2, 3 and 4 but it also looks so much cooler and more interesting to me. I’m curious about Grace’s story, who her freaky old stalker is and how Leon gets involved in it all. Also I just want to kick a zombie in the head after blowing his knee out.
