S*** that’s actually certified by labels, not just people throwing anything on Apple Music. A whole lot of bs would be halted if labels just unionized and created a real system for streaming and charting new albums/singles. No more changing an album after it’s released,no more calling a song that didn’t chart well a “random throwaway” and not the single.
Everything that goes on this service would be official and ready to go. Singles would be free to stream for a certain period of time to actually help indicate its popularity but all albums new or old would be behind a $19.99/month paywall(just as much as an album)to listen too. This would be the only service to have the latest albums for at least two to three months and it’ll automatically go to normal streaming.
Streaming quality would be Flac as it would be the actual masters of said album. More of a focus of bringing the album experience of stuff like booklets, personal art and liner notes made just for that album into a digitized(Qobuz has attempted this in a very basic way but It can be done way better). This would not be a bang for your buck service but a way to make an album or single feel official and attempt to bring the personalized experience of an album back to the people.
Artist throwing everything and seeing if it sticks on a bunch of services has to stop.(I don’t even feel like discussing the idea I have Billboard lol)
Yes but when you take into account what the label wants from their consumers they’re just gonna start milking bullshit
OP hates independent artists
yes op great idea, give the labels more power
this would work maybe in 2007 but its 2020 bro. industry is fading away its just ghosts now
“Bring the personalized experience of an album back to people”
Yeah you think that’s going to be the case fr?

Yea,I’m just throwing this idea out there but I def think of something like this was to be done,it should’ve been earlier

why would labels band together when they all want as much market share as possible? why help your competition?
also why would you as a consumer sign up for a service where the labels choose who wins and who doesn't as opposed to wanting to look for what's out there

Out of some desperate need to feel like they are relevant in the industry prolly

Cause today’s system is totally broken,Billboard is obviously outdated. This would be a long term investment and a system like this would have to birth a new charting system tbh.

tru, u can be ur own gatekeeper by only playing songs you like as well
When you don’t understand how anything works at all
op really said “the labels want artistic integrity, they don’t just want fast food music from whomever makes them the most money”
When you don’t understand how anything works at all
Man,this is absolutely something I’m just throwing out there. I know for a fact in order to make this work, all types of s*** would have to connect at the right time. This just an idea
a curation service could work well, doesn't necessarily have to be labels doing the curation. but again u can be your own curator
