I came across this video a few days ago where this podcast was discussing Rich Boy as the biggest hip hop what-if (outside of death)

People write him off as a one-hit wonder and that's understandable considering how huge Throw Some D's was, but I'm telling you his entire debut album is fire! He had Polow da Don in his corner so you know the production is on point. Features from Andre 3k, Big Boi, David Banner, John Legend, etc...
But dawg Rich Boy was rapping really well on here. Off topic but it's crazy how rappers who weren't considered the A-listers or mainstays of the genre were still so highly skilled. Like a nigga like Chingy was a very competent rapper who knew how to make hits. The bar was much higher back then.
Back to Rich Boy, anyone who's heard his debut will tell you how dope it is. The production is varied and Rich was gliding over it.
This song is too real. Speaking on real issues. The track on the back end is so fire!

Another song where Rich was speaking that real

Whew this beat from Polow

This beat is crazy too

I was really riding for Rich Boy pause, especially being from Alabama. Up to that point, we didn't really have any rappers with any real motion on a mainstream level so it was huge to see Rich Boy rep the state.
If you've heard his debut, what are your thoughts? If you haven't, listen to it and share your thoughts on it! I wanna know what y'all think.
God bless
I’ve heard a couple of tracks always meant to get around to listening to the whole thing
Rich Boy was that nigga
he came out during the tail end of the ringtone era into the internet era so he kinda got left behind. but that album was in repeat for me
Does anyone know why he kinda fell off. I remember he had that Drop single after his debut and just dropped some mixtapes. Was it label s***?

the industry climate shifted dramatically around the time he came out (2007) by time 2008 came around the industry sound and model shifted and left alot of those guys behind.
very few people understood the shift when it happened
You inspired me OP. Will be listening tomorrow. I love discovering someone to fw on a deeper level than the hits

Always thought he murdered this feature on Comeback Season

I haven't played it in a long time. But, I remember this being such a surprise when I listened to it. I had no expectations at all and it blew me away. It's sad that he wasn't able to have a lasting career.

For sure this the type of content I come here for
Back in the day when one of my sisters worked at hooters rich boy came thru and was telling everyone who he was. He asked for celeb discounts and 2 for 1 deals, tipped zero yet had the audacity to write his phone number down on his receipt
Always thought he murdered this feature on Comeback Season

Its a Rich Boy / 334 Mob song called Supafly -

Drake deleted the other verses and added himself to fake a feature before he made it
Caused issues between them -
