Right before quarantine began I moved in with a friend from work who sews. He showed me some basics that laid down the foundation for me but everything can def be learned from YouTube.

I would start with trying to disassemble a garment and put it back together. The most confusing aspect of garment construction is understanding all the different folds and seams that hold it together.

That s*** kinda boring tho lol so you could also just create new garments using your favorite pieces. Plenty of videos will show you how to create a pattern out of s*** in your closet. From there it’s like an intricate puzzle. You cut out pieces of fabric that fit that pattern — accounting for seam allowances, and folds — and sew it altogether.

I just be watching these old ass ladies on YouTube they really got the juice when it come to this s***. They’ll break it down for you more technically than I can rn. Still learning myself ! 🤙🏾

Oh fasho, you’ll be able to do that pretty easy. Smaller projects will help you get comfortable with the machine first too.

for anyone who wants to start a brand but doesn’t know where to start (might be best to check this link tom or later on in the week when it isn’t so much traffic/lag. Page barely loads atm but it is a real working site)

Just an idea, but some brands are just people’s names. Try coming up a with a cool name. You could pull from artists in the past and change some letters and mix and match first and last names.
