I think people just want the artist to sound fresh and inspired again. It's not specifically about the content of their lyricism. Just don't trendchase. Drake been sound hopping ruthlessly for a couple years now. We don't need to hear Drake echoing some other artists' slang, flows, sounds, etc. lol. Same deal with Ye, especially when he gets on typical trap production.
