I think i want to be a CRNA. Im a CNA right now and currently studying to be an LPN which by the end of this year i should be one. But in order to pursue my associates degree i have to take a year of prerequisites next year. So i wouldnt be an RN (associates degree) until 2022 😪.

from there it would take another 6/7 years to become a CRNA. So essentially i wouldnt be a CRNA until like 2029/2030...so im kind of feeling meh knowing this...BUTTTT a CRNA's starting pay is like $172,000 ($79/hr-$86/hr). And in some places they get paid like $200k+... should i pursue this career path 🤔

like im 27 years old. i wouldnt be graduating until im like 36/37 years old. do i really want to throw away potential years with women and potentially children for a big bag of money

Sidenote: ive already enjoyed a s*** ton of my youth. been partying and fking since i was like 16. ive been feeling like its time to put down the partying and pick up a book. plus i got some good ass genetics so hopefully i wont look like a shriveled up raisin by then 🙏🏽🙏🏽

well yea. ill be an LPN by the end of this year. So ill be making like $20 an hour.

But then it would take me like 2 years (2022) before i could get my associates degree but then ill only be making like $25-$35.
As far as my bachelors (2024) go there really isnt that much of a pay differential from your associates.

Master's degree (2026) you get a nice increase to like $42 an hour)

and then to become a CRNA it would take an additional 2 years (2028). So yeah it would take the whole decade. It feels discouraging since i see so many young ppl already making that kind of money with way less effort 😪

Every CRNA I know is old af don't sweat it. You would probably be one of the youngest to graduate that program. CRNA programs require experience in ICU and Critical Care I think so most people getting into that program are well into their 30s, 40s or higher. Time will fly and by the time you get into a program you will have all the experience and money saved up to actually get through the program successfully.

It's not like someone like me could just jump into a CRNA program just because I have all the prereqs. It feels like a mountain but just focus on the next hill one by one and you'll get there.

I’d say do it if that’s what you truly want. It’ll be hard work but in the end you’ll thank yourself

Cause you sit in the OR on the other side of a curtain just waiting for the surgery to be finished. I mean sure, every once in a while something interesting might happen, but for the vast majority of surgeries you won’t be doing much of anything.

yeah, but ive begun to realize that i really do enjoy taking care of ppl.

pay is nice. benefits are great. and 89% of the nursing field is women so

    1) males get paid more since theyre in such high demand
    2) you're literally just kicking with women all day

i love it so far and dont really want to change professions but theres SOOOO mcuh schooling

    Why LPN instead of RN?

it would take me 3 years to get my RN since ive never spent a single day in college and i would have to take prerequisites
its going to take the same amount of time so i got my LPN first so that i can at least get that pay differential and just bridge over to my RN

You have to be an RN first (as far as I’m aware), and then you can either go to school to become an NP, or go to school to be a CRNA.

And with one of them, you can just do online classes and continue working, but I don’t remember which one

Most of you are animal like with 0 accomplishments, while at the same time feeling like you're owned anything by anyone. Your life doesn't matter. None of ours do. We have no actual purpose in the universe. Stop thinking you're special, stop thinking you matter at all. You don't even know you exist. Stop being in denial.

Graduating at 36/37 is fine. Most SRNA's are gonna be late 20s or early-mid 30s with a few over 40. You aren't gonna be out of place.

Just make sure you're getting ICU experience along the way.
