I was accepted into UVA for the fall of 2022, but I have experienced nothing but unprofessionalism and carelessness from professors and staff. Firstly, when I transferred, I wanted to major in CS. However, the advisor failed to inform me that due to transferring in with 60+ credits, I would have to be a part-time student if I wanted to pursue CS. Therefore, I had to change my major to cognitive science.
Then, I had to retake the introductory CS class because my classmate ruined our project. So here I am taking this introductory class AGAIN.
Now, at the end of the spring semester, my CS professor misgraded my project because he didn’t understand the implementation of my code and is giving me the runaround about fixing his own mistake. This is my second time taking this class and it’s going to tank my GPA if they don’t fix it. I have been sending emails all day and none of them will respond to me.
I was accepted into JMU in the spring of 2021, but I waited an extra year just to finish the requirements and qualify for UVA. However, now that I am here, it's not what I anticipated. The school is not prestigious, the advising is terrible, and the CS professors do not understand their own assignments.
If I were to transfer out of UVA, would that make me a quitter? I wasted 2+ years of my life when I could’ve just went to VCU or JMU and been finished by now. I’m thinking about just transferring out because everyday it’s a new issue with the CS department at this school.
state schools in general are ass
if u cant afford a private school go to a small state school, the rly big ones tend to be very sink or swim

as someone from europe, i would love to experience that sort of college life, much more extroverted than where i was. seems fun.
As a CS graduate, I would advise to just see it through bro and get your degree with the highest honors possible. UVA is a top 25 CS school. Would have sacrificed all my senior year partying to get into a school like that.
Don’t give up. Failed CS 101 twice before finally passing with a C the third time.

It is but the thing about college is if u make the most of the education and connections with professors etc u can end up in a nice position. So many ppl just see college as a time to have fun then they graduate like what's next

Nor ass as in bad education but the classes are huge and it is very competitive. At a more intimate environment it's much easier to do well

Tell me about the girls though. This whole “wasted my life” thing sounds a bit extreme
Does not seem like a waste OP. However, there seems to be people in your field at UVA who have no clue what they’re doing, and the success of their students does not seem to be a notable priority

Hop off the high horse Jesus it’s a little unrealistic to not expect kids at that age to want to live it up after reaching college. Plenty of people are able to find the balance and be successful
