• commercial bounce back from being universally hated by the culture and vilified

• more entertaining and impressive album than GNX also better raps than GNX (it’s not just me saying this plenty of content creators have said this/debated this. If it wasn’t close people wouldn’t be talking about it. I love Dot btw but these are just facts)

• iconic video anthology for every song on the album that we haven’t seen executed at that scale since prime Kanye was doing s*** like Runaway

• subbed the entire industry (not just Kendrick) with clever wordplay on the scale of prime Hov when he was at his most condescending

• nothing else this year in its weight class except TFO (rap wise not entertainment wise) anybody telling you different is grossly underrating the raps on here and overrating whatever tf they talking bout

I notoriously despise Fantano bro lol again I have a whole thread with hundreds of replies about what I think of critics

writing is about communicating emotion and ideas bro not rhyme schemes and s*** the most simple verse can be well written because it evokes emotion comes off genuine etc etc hence Eminem is a s***ty writer but good at ”technical rapping skill” Drake overly relies on lazy similes and corny bitter droning on and on about the problems he has w this guy or the other and I think it jsut doesn’t work that well a lot of the writing falls flat I’m not the one calling it a classic though so idk why ur making me say why it’s ass when u can’t say why it’s good. He’s had good writing before iceman isn’t a good example of that the stuff that’s supposed to feel icy or slick just feel corny bitter and sloppy idk what to tell u and I don’t really feel for him like that sometimes it’s good but it’s very inconsistent it’s either ass or cool his writing is something I deadass gotta ignore at a lot of parts

All the “connect emotionally 🥹” s*** is cool but highly subjective and overrated

I fw rappers who can actually rap TECHNICALLY idgaf about none of these niggas emotions tf lol I mean don’t get me wrong sometimes a rapper can say some s*** that might touch my soul a lil bit but that’s not the only metric for good rap.

All that “corny” s*** is very lazy criticism btw imo, again that’s why I’m a technician head first, I like Dot AND Drake first and foremost for their ability to rap well, same reason I like Freddie Gibbs or Benny the Butcher. I connect more “emotionally” to Cole than all them fr but that’s not like a major concern of mine at all lol

And Em used to be technically astounding but he basic now, just raps fast and has clunky wordplay.

I feel like the goat rapper of emotional connection was Pac. A nigga that fixates on that wasn’t liking Biggie or Jay-Z. I’m the Biggie Jay-Z nigga scrap

all ts is subjective bro lol the fact u value the “technical rapping” thing is subjective just because u like it there is no more or less objective way to appreciate art the technical rapping thing anyway is based on glorifying mid 90s-early 2000s backpacker criteria it’s completely arbitrary really it’s a totally valid criticism to think a rapper is corny and doesn’t resonate or move me much esp w what they are trying to do
