I meant the og tweet I posted. Honestly Nevermind doesn't come close to 808s influence lol
He's conflating a lot of different stuff.
Drake and Wayne and Kanye were called gay because everyone called everything gay in the 00s. Some of it was toxic masculinity. A lot of it was those people being in middle and high school.
Separate from that you have "real rap" people who were against anything pop. Then you have NYC and West Coast rejecting the influence of the south.
The rest is gibberish psychoanalysis. Treating the genre as a monolith before Drake. Classic.
weakend is getting it on every album lol
Weakend is more clever than half the s*** Drake said about Kendrick on this joint
Let’s talk about it.
i know its your fav site. but we dont care.

Your local artist working down the street at Wendy’s is more inspired and self aware than drake at any point in this decade
The album/a great bit of songs on it are/is dope but people's criticism seems to be his POV/meta hasn't advanced beyond "they conspired against me" and acknowledging that people want more depth
Interesting dichotomy
Great tweet btw and puts into words how I feel about the whole "hipster reviews hip hop" thing that should've been left in the 2010s
What do we say to Drake trying to be the type of rapper he describes in his tweet until Graduation/808's/Wayne's experimentation and dumbed down 2008 and beyond style gave him his template for mainstream success
Which is why people look at Drake as inauthentic how he's saying, if Billy woods sold a million records and that became the hottest new rap style Drake would start rapping like billy woods lol
I dont expect nerds to get it
Modern Drake is just a professional wrestler, Roman Reigns ass archetype. He's damn near anti Hip Hop in the way he carries himself, there's nothing about him anti-establishment, he's cool to the type of people who don't even like rap music, I've never seen Drake's brand of a****** on top of Hip Hop in my lifetime. His whole shtick is milking the genre for everything it's worth and be as obnoxious as possible while doing it.
People need to stop comparing him to Hov, Ye, Wayne etc. Those motherfuckers had a mission and respected their peers artistic ability enough to recognize what made great music in their era. Drakes brand of commercialism is a "FUCK YOU" with a Nike ad behind it, it makes money but the genre of Hip Hop is dying rapidly because of it.

because of the beef we're gonna be getting those "the industry tried to kill me" lyrics for the rest of his career

i wish the man would just bow out of the game at this point. It's getting too obvious that he's selling a brand/image first, the music is apart of the brand. Drake is closer to a model then he is a rapper imo.
Honestly, first week hypes are always going to be filled with the most extreme opinions on both sides.
You have to wait months or even a whole year to let the album marinate and properly see its impact and standing.
Iceman is interesting because, imho, it holds up better sonically than it does thematically. Sonically, this is some of Drake's best production that he's rapped over in years. But, thematically, the references to UMG, the beefs with other rappers, and the subs to people like Jay-Z can have niggas falling off of it and revisiting his other albums that aren't as topically "dated" so to speak.
Either way, I'd love to see more nuanced takes.

I could tell son was a “I wake up every day I’m glad I’m 6 ft” type of nigga based on KMT, but there is no way he thinks it’s that offensive to call a nigga a midget in 2026
HIS RAP IDOL IS A 5’5 GREMLIN!!!

if he stopped making music and got back into acting that would be a game changer
It’s only like 9 real black niggas here twin
Then you narrow it down to class and it’s very few who can relate
a lot of the posts on here just take a different light when you see who‘s behind it
im sure you’re one of them
What is that supposed to mean
you should just explain why you look down on those people exactly instead of being vague
Maid of Honor got an 8.0 lol
