a lot of it comes from the idea that they're middle class people appropriating a working class voice. That's what the guy from Sleaford Mods said. I can understand the hate tbh but I still like the chunes
yea i have heard about that.

Waiting till later to listen, will @ you with my thoughts.

I really liked this, will say there’s a slight downgrade in lyrics but overall this was thoroughly enjoyable. Might be their weakest album but by no means is that bad, gotta sit with it just a little longer and see how I feel.

Kinda wish they switched up the formula a little because their albums prior done a better job imo. Maybe it’ll grow on me but that’s how I feel atm.

Even putting aside how I’ve felt about everything that has happened with the band post-Joy, this really just feels like an uninspired and nonetheless obvious move from a band that wasn’t even that inventive to begin with.
LOL at these guys being the face of modern Post-Punk. Go listen to the Protomartyr or Bambara releases this year.

Disagree but that new Protomartyr album is so fire

For me, this is just a run of the mill disappointing album from a really good band. Whatever extracurricular s*** has gone on with Idles, I still think Brutalism and Joy kick ass and deserved the hype.
If Ultra Mono is where the backlash begins, it's at least partially deserved. This is nowhere near the level of the last two. The songs just aren't there.
And yes, Protomartyr and Bambara put out albums that are leagues ahead of this.
