how would we prevent a totalitarian dictatorship from happening ? wouldn't it be inevitable due to human nature ?

"totalitarian dictatorships" are a work of fiction, learn how the world actually works than ask a different question

  • Jan 23, 2020

isn’t that what’s going on right now?

Presidents can already commit war crimes, aid genocides, and be absurdly corrupt with bank/industries whose purpose is to exploit/extort the American people and come out squeaky clean on the other side

Stalin and Castro are still turning heads even in their graves. Man had America and its generations foreword in absolute shambles

i’m speaking out if ignorance so please enlighten me. once someone or a select group of people take initiative to structure a communist or socialist based society, how can we ensure that they will give up authority ?

that "group of people" are the working class, i.e., most people.

like cmon OP, you already live in a world where 19 people have as much wealth as 7 billion people, is that not dystopian enough for you

Nobody will create a perfect society under economic terms.

Don’t let these people boss you around OP. Communism/Socialism isn’t without fault and you have some valid concerns.

all economic systems may result in dystopia. that's kinda the point of this thread

  • Jan 23, 2020

You can’t. Every serious proponent of communism is arguing for a state directed society that will almost certainly resemble that of the cold era communist state

so here's the thing, 1984 is a work of fiction. there are no autocracies. there is no secret cabal running things.

in any system, you have class rule. in capitalism this class is the capitalist class, and in socialism this is the working class. eventually, one class dominates the other. when put in these realistic terms, every government is a "dictatorship" of one class over another.

if you want to talk about dictatorship than you need to get real for a second and leave the bad high school reading list s*** at home.

Or we are picking between two political systems that will either way cause bloodshed and misfortune to those less privileged and less abled.

the system already is violent toward the less privileged and the differently abled so you have no point

He’s saying that either way (capitalism or socialism) would lead to similar negative results, so one side doesn’t have that much of a moral high ground
