A lot of music does by someone like Ed Sheeran does sound like it's highly market tested so in that sense AI could make a 'hit'. But people still like to connect to artists like Ed Sheeran. I dunno how AI could be successful at the image side of pop music.

yeah that's definitely something to think about. My gut feeling is that AI couldn't replicate the emotional impact of something like Untrue. The way it feels like a UK city at 4am, the choice of vocal samples, the melancholy etc.
