At this point I don't even know tbh. But he would definitely be more popular if he didn't do and say wild s*** constantly
There's a difference between big and being popular
6ix9ine more famous in europe than Kanye
Idk about that
Name wise? Or music wise?
Because everyone knows kanye over here
Kanye is obviously a very controversial artist for a lot of reasons. The big question is if Kanye was like a media trained normal rapper, would he be as big as he is? Moments like the taylor incident, supporting trump, maga hat, and "slavery was a choice". Would Kanye be bigger or smaller without moments like this?
He wouldn't be Kanye
I think we mix up being bigger/smaller with the idea of being hot (seen).
What do antics translate to? That's the question.
If you have articles written about you weekly but you lose the support of a large part of your core fanbase, are you a bigger because more casuals know about you?
I think this is Perfectly a***ogized with 6ix9ine:
I have 2M ig live viewers therefore I am the biggest artist. But was he?
Millions of people are talking about me because I said "Slavery was a choice" therefore I am big.
Ye would be dr dre/pharrelll famous without his antics
He’d be 10x bigger if every scandal starting with Taylor Swift on to now didn’t happen
He’d be smaller if any scandal before then didn’t happen
This
Would we have even gotten MBDTF or by extension Yeezus if he didn't have that controversy though?
Would of prob gotten good ass job
talent would've propelled him no doubt. but he wanted both

For the most part his career would still play out the same.
MBDTF for example still had amazing acclaim and sold well. It just didn't have 'chart hits' but even without the Taylor drama, Pop/Dance music was absolutely dominating in 2010 and even Drake was struggling to go top 10 with singles. I think the singles would've did similar regardless.
Yeezus also had amazing acclaim, and the dip in sales/no hits is simply because it was just not radio friendly at all. So that would've played out like that regardless.
Life of Pablo had a weird ass release so yeah, again, that really effected the numbers and the charting for songs.
I don't think he was really controversial in the 2000s at all overall. The George Bush comment was how most of the black/liberal ppl felt at that point in 2005 which was his fanbase, nobody just would've had the balls to say it on TV.
I mean 07 Kanye was pretty colossal. Kinda hard to say he woulda been bigger than that tbh. Would he be more loved? Probably but by now no1 really cares bout that taylor s*** and most of his critics from that werent even fans of him to begin with

Your 4000% wrong bout the taylor s***.
A couple white people i kno still hate kanye 4 it and havent listened to his music since.
his cult of personality wouldn’t be there but his music in itself is masterful
but the thing is that his music somewhat relies on the context of what kinda headspace kanye’s in at the time

Like I said most of them werent fans to begin with
