It would be f***ed up to go to the childbirth. Someone you love is dying, it's your last chance to spend a moment with them. Missing your kid's birth is a big deal, but your friend deserves to see you one last time and you deserve to see them one last time.

Not trying to minimize the importance of your child's birth, but c'mon.
