He never had rape allegations
But I see what you’re saying. If that b**** never lied, he’d be looked at as a true legend instead of these tryhards cacs hatin on him
tf
I think he would of had AOTY. 2019 would of been a easy snag for it. Only rap albums I think are insanely good this year is Freddie Gibbs. Danny Way and Young thugs. That’s my opinion tho
Dude was progressing at an unreal rate. He was turning his life around and trying to make up for his mistakes.
He did terrible things and made a lot of bad music. But he was changing and had that taken away. If we still had him, he would be a new man.
X easily would have reached his full potential and dropped his classic this year, and everyone here would be laughing at Kanye’s album.
Sigh... what could have been.
All facts, 17 completely changed how Kanye approached music. Ye and JIK are him trying to emulate the rawness and rough qualities of that album but ye is too old and used to making fleshed out grandiose music to really hit the mark. XXX wasn't necessarily the "best" artist, but he was the best at channeling the publics' collective fantasies.
Kanye used to be a conduit for/possessed by Dionysian archetypes which have since left him (this is why artists fall off) and were channeled into XXX before he died...actually never mind, I'm gonna save that for a later discussion because it doesn't really fit the topic of this thread.
He just wasn't good enough.
Not at the time he died. But he would have gotten better.

Possibly, but he was far from making AOTY level material. First of all, he suffered from demoitis. Secondly, his lyrics were immature and underdeveloped. I can't see how 1 year of practice would've changed him that drastically.
He had potential, sure, but I would've given him at least 5 years until he starts making music that truly appeals to grown folks.

I can understand that and I agree his music mostly appealed to kids. I think the few times he tried to go for a more mature sound he COULD nail it, but he clearly was still stuck in a youthful mindset that clouded his vision.
Still, I think there’s a place for childish music in the “classics” category. Just like how some classics are albums that clearly appeal to the depressed (Pink Moon), some would clearly appeal to kids.
Maybe 1 year is a stretch but he also would have had a bigger platform and larger team producing for him by now. Maybe more people in the pot could have given him something amazing too.
but to say he didn't miss out on something possibly great would be foolish to say cause he had massive potential
