f***in rediculous
sent this vid to try and put a friend on gorillaz since he likes Q
He said he can’t get past the cartoon aspect of the band He said that’s some Hastune miku type of s***
I think the animated aspect is the coolest part of Gorillaz
I remember I used to think they were somehow connected to Teen Titans cartoon as a kid
imagine not liking the videos
Seen them play live not too long ago, was still unreal cus of the animated aspect. Damon mad passionate too

s*** I ain't even notice
They have one of the coolest aesthetics of any 2000s band imo. I feel like people are put off by obvious gimmicks but I respect their dedication to their vision.
This is like hating on Daft Punk cos of the robot s***
I feel like for the mainstream they were a few years ahead too when they first came out. I think you saw a lot of people inspired by their visuals

i like their live show too
idk why when they did Glasto they got trashed for it. I think they're a great festival band. gotta love the creativity, they got some great singles in the setlist too

The visuals and some d**** had me fully enveloped honestly. I see them criticised a lot in recent times for their performances but I enjoyed it

people love to criticise bands who probably won't match the imapct of when they first came out rather than appreciating what they're still bringing us.
feels like it's a lot of that with Gorillaz. I didn't really like Humanz but it still had two songs I love and they have so much music to lean on for live sets.
People forget, cos Gorillaz were presented differently, but the Gorrilaz 2000s was Damon's 2nd decade of being the main writer in a big band. That's very impressive, most people aren't still on it like that with debut energy in their 2nd decade as an artist.
Since then Gorillaz still drop some gems, and his solo album had some great music on it. But the album he produced for Bobby Womack (featuring Lana, Gil Scott-Heron, Fatoumata and Richard Russell from XL/everything is recorded) and the songs he did with Kano are unreal some of his best work ever to me.

Back in middle school, my homie at the bus stop would always talk about and listen to gorillaz. Mans even had gorillaz converse
The animated aspect definitely drew him in cause he was a big fan of comic books
Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media and its official moe anthropomorph, a teenage girl with long, turquoise twintails. She uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2, Vocaloid 3, and Vocaloid 4 singing synthesizing technologies. Wikipedia

Don't get me wrong, I love when you get all detailed and philosophical, but I also appreciate sentimental posts like this from you <3

Very true man, Damon’s feats in two different bands should never be under appreciated 💯%
They still have the magic behind the gimmick so full respect for them. I’ll have to check bobby womacks project out you’ve perked my interest

I remember watching the Stylo video for the first time
I read "cause he likes Q" and then saw a video thumbnail of a crazed face staring at a computer screen
Thought you meant something totally different until I saw that the song features schoolboy q lol

you'll probably love it. idk if you know bobby womack but it's completely different to his old classics, but i think it's amazing what they did with him. a lot of electronic sounds but never too overproduced.
Did you ever hear/like his solo album?
Bobby Womack definitely my favourite Damon of the 2010s tho.
How he an “ignorant mf” but knows what hatsune miku is? being able to ref some like that way nerdier than knowing the gorillaz
