How many dead idols is it going to take for the weirdos who love kpop to realize it’s one of the most disturbing music industries currently operating?

How many times are y’all going to say “it’s a cultural difference” when reports of the idols being starved to stay underweight, put on medication to stop their periods so they never miss a performance, get fired or death threats for dating someone and have to apologize and ultimately - kill themselves?

While you’re enjoying your lil kpop album it’s almost 100% a fact the idol you bumping is scrolling Instagram comments full of hate wondering when it’s her or his time to commit suicide.

    Stop 👏🏾 supporting 👏🏾 this 👏🏾 disgusting 👏🏾 industry 👏🏾

There needs to be a crackdown. In the span of 5 years they’ve lost some of their BIGGEST stars to suicide. Imagine if Drake, then Kendrick, then Kanye killed themselves in the span of 3-4 years it would be unfathomable but y’all don’t give these women and men from Korea the humanization they deserve Stop FETISHIZING Asians (looking at you @Versetti ) and stop protecting their human rights.

    RIP Goo Hara

...And the music is trash too

Who exactly do you want to stop listening to kpop, western listeners or everyone? This is more complicated than you yelling on ktt2 online for people who don't actually listen to kpop.

Let's say you actually end western-international kpop fan consumerism for good, what do you do about the rest of the world that listens?

There is a following in other parts of Asia along with South Korea in itself. So without western-international fans, kpop will still be actively a sellable section of music.

The western fans outside of large groups actually do not make up huge parts of the profit or fan pull for many groups, so again this will not end the industry. Using the power of the dollar only works when you actually have a large share to dent. Most of these fans have no actual vocal/written input for kpop management companies either considering many protests and requests for better treatment made have little impact.

So where do you actually go to stop this considering this information?

i dont know much about k pop but wasnt the singer who just committed suicide away from the industry for like 4 years? and another singer who died was away from the industry for 5 years. south korea got high suicide rates in general so even a few famous people are bound to kill themselves too

no i am not a kpop stan before you go buccwild on me

This. Both of them left their groups some time ago and were not being 'trained to death'. There is clearly a huge problem going on, and this is f***ing heartbreaking but i feel as if it's more to do with korea inherently if that makes sense.

Trust me, i dont agree with idols getting overworked at all and wish the industry was less stressful but something else is going on here too. Anyway its 6am and im tired so i dont wanna say too much, RIP Goo and Sulli.

It’s not even cultural, they’ve just boiled down the pop star industry to a mechanical set of rules they enforce over the acts.

But where is the responsibility of the actual artists? They’re not forced into the industry.
