What do you personally go by with influence? Who's cited the most or who sounds like the most emulated

Mix of both but cited the most matters more

    Ok I feel it

But let's say (and this ISN'T about Kanye or Wayne) everybody cites Rapper A as an influence cause Rapper A is so respected but nobody actually sounds like Rapper A...whereas nobody cites Rapper D as an influence but everybody sounds like Rapper D

What would you say about this situation?

i never understood the thug/wayne comparison i know thug calls wayne his fav rapper + the whole barter/carter album name s*** but musically they dont even sound the same. kendrick i could see since he sounded like a diet wayne in his earlier projects

Thug was openly a diet Wayne too

When it comes to rappers style and delivery, Wayne may have the edge (not by a lot, but considerable) but Kanye has a greater impact and influence outside of rap music and music in general.

So this question of influence is actually harder to measure between the two. They're both massively influential and i would argue more influential than all of their peers (Eminem, T.I. The Game). It's something to be proud of if you're a fan of either (or both!).
