My birthday is in a couple weeks and I’m just a few years from 30 but I’ve been stuck in the same spot for years. I wanna go back to school but I was trying to wait until I was in a more stable spot in life. But living with direct family that can’t get their money problems together is f***ing me and making it impossible to save the way I wanted to. So now I have to move out with no savings, still owing debt to lenders, and working a job that’s paying just enough to keep my head above water. One of my friends with a cozy Fortune 500 job is urging me to not go to school and saying he got his job purely through teaching himself coding and networking with the right people. At this point in life I don’t give a f*** about academic journeys and enriching my life, I just want money, that’s it. wtf do I do? How do I get to the bag the quickest without wasting my time? I don’t have much more time to waste

Honestly i think college is probably not worth it if ur already financially strained

Imo ur best bet is to keep searching for better jobs. If u land something with upward mobility u dont need college (atleast not yet). Its good to eventually get a 4 year degree but theres alternatives that are faster (IT, trades bootcamps etc). I got friends in management positions who dont have degrees, jus gotta find a good company and work hard

U have to know what u want out of getting a degree if college will open doors for u I reckon that’s a good start but u have to be locked in the next few years working / studies is manageable but it gon take lots of perseverance

My employer will pay for my classes as long as I pass. But I’m ngl I cannot see myself going for the full 4 years for a degree. I have no idea what I want to do

    I agree
College is a waste if u have absolutely no idea, people get deep into debt and still dont know what they want to do at all and just freeze

In general few people know exactly what they want to do from the get go. You need to make a list of things you can see yourself possibly doing, list out the pros/cons of each, pick one, and map out how ur gonna get there.

For me, i picked my job based on pay, stability, less annoying people, and the lack of need to get a masters or phd.
Theres not something that was like oh i absolutely am passionate about rhis and want to do this forever, i just dont mind it at all and it is the best deal for me

I would get multiple jobs to be out of the house as much as possible. Don’t take on new debt (car, credit cards, personal loan).
