Spent 2 years stressing out in grad school and then I finally graduated last summer. Thought I'd relax but nope...

Spent 5 months interviewing and applying for jobs while stretching the money I did have. Constantly got rejected after 3 to 4 rounds of interviewing. I sent out nearly 300 job apps bro. Was helping out my mom with bills and paying vet bills for my dog before he passed. Then I finally got a job with pretty good pay, great benefits, and I could work from home. Thought I could finally relax but nope...

Work has been stressing me out and giving me anxiety and it's not at all what I wanna do, my work-life balance is s***, I am constantly reminded that my family collectively is poor and no matter how much I help out financially the money problems never go away, and it's f***ing cold out

I've had enough man. I am looking for a new job but more than likely it'll be the same old s***. I just want something easy at least, just give that for now. I accomplish goals and I feel like a b**** for complaining but idk

Storm don’t last forever dawg. You’re going through a rough patch, but you’re educated and got the credentials so you’ll be alright. Just keep your head up, focus on the things you can control for now, and opportunity will show itself sooner or later.

True. I'm grateful I was able to get an education and for the options it gives me. Main thing I can control is how I help my family, just gotta do what I can

Well make sure you don’t overburden yourself with your families financial needs either. If they’re able-bodied adults with jobs just like you, they should be able to help themselves. You still have a future of your own to invest in.

OP, what kind of work are you doing? Financial a***ysis? Data/statistical a***ysis? Forecasting?

Depending on where you graduated it can be a very strong degree. Based on what you're saying for WLB, it sounds like you're either in Big 4 or an IB firm? Maybe a boutique?

I'm asking as you can potentially pivot yourself to fields that may not be as lucrative but will have a very nice WLB. Government, public policy institutions, data a***ytics in F500, etc.

Did not major in applied econ, but I have a few friends that entered the field.

You need to realize you need to do what you have to do. If your job is stressing you out or giving you anxiety, good it means it’s challenging for you. Continue until it’s not an issue for you anymore, or you can quit and settle for a non stressful low paying job.

My job was also stressing me out the last years. Too much overtime and the clients were awful and negative.

At first I tried to figure out what could be fun, relaxing and still a possible income in the future, so that I started making beats. My job became so stressful that I didn’t start a business out of it so far but I still had fun and a goal in mind. That helped me mentally.

Then I was lucky and had the option to get another job within the same company. Going on with what I did was not an option. So I took that. I also agreed with them to work from home everyday and reduced my hours (without cutting money).

Now days go by where I sometimes have literally nothing to do. The first months I just enjoyed this time to refresh my mind but now I’m back hustling for myself. I’m reading books that help me understand my mind and I’m also reading books on how to make more money and make beats frequently.

Think about the options you have and think about your time management in your free time. How do you use your free time? How much do you have? If money would be no issue, how would you want to make money? How much money do you have for yourself that you could invest in yourself and in stocks for example?

The problem is, that other companies and jobs can cause the same problems. Do you feel like the company is going in a good direction, so that staying could be good for your future?

I was in the same boat as you. But I dropped out and found my trade. No matter what I did, enough was never enough for my family because we were generationally poor and I was the first generation to be self sufficient.

First, take care of yourself. You being with them isn't enough. You need to take care of yourself man. When you take care of yourself you can help others.

I’m currently a sales ops a***yst for a consulting firm. It’s not Big 4 but they are up there I think. I work with a lot of consulting directors who are killing themselves for the job and that bleeds onto me too, as well as just the nature of my role. I can def pivot to something else but the thought of looking for something again sounds awful but I’ll put up with it

What do your friends do? I specialized in Market Research but I got rejected after final rounds multiple times

You’re right man, I haven’t been taking care of myself. I put this pressure on myself to support my family and it’s getting to me. Gotta work on that

Consulting is a great path, but it's a meat grinder for associates and juniors. @chicknparm could maybe give you some advice, but if your path is to relax, it may not be the best field to stick to.

2 of my friends work in the data a***ytics team for F500 companies, 1 works as an ops a***yst at a fed. government agency. All three have great WLB and respectable salaries.
