engaging gameplay for sure but also an engaging story as well
not everything has to be too complicated either when it comes to the story it can be very simple and to the point with what it wants to do

also one of the most important things about a game for me is ATMOSPHERE
how does it feel just standing in ur environment yknow what i mean

Experience, make it a lit one

Everything gotta mix together perfectly

Gameplay HAS to be fun ( most important part )

Good story/interesting story

Basically aim for the stars on every aspect but do put some emphasis on gameplay

for an rpg the writing is everything tbh

I don't really play or like rpgs that much, I do like Fallout though

definitely try a different setting than medieval/fantasy imo

Have nice engaging characters and nice gameolay systems, try telling the story through simple dialogue not overly expository stuff, keep the setting as a backdrop 🤔 that's what I like about games

The game i eventually want to make is an rpg involving 4 black kids who go to college but in their free time play a game that just came out. In this game there are cards. These cards contain "skills" such as running or swimming. If you use these "skills" long enough they become abilities ingrained on their virtual character

The nice part however is:
1. There are codes on the back of the card, and if you manipulate them right, they can become skills such as running as fast as a cheetah or breathing underwater
2. The battle system is fully customisable if you are sick with coding. A player could use a watch as a weapon if they coded it right

The main character uses an umbrella as a weapon for example
