Seeing this movie today, figure it should get its own thread considering it’s gaining buzz every single week since nominations have been announced.

  • What a f***ing movie. Loved this

Really hope Torres pulls through with the win she deserves it.

I went into this with pretty high expectations after seeing how much attention it’s gotten over the past month or so, so I don’t say it lightly when I say I was quite blown away by this movie. It shot way up my favorite films of the year list, it’s very poignant and so much of the brilliant acting is shown through nuanced performances. I never felt like there were any cases of overacting or manipulating tactics like an overbearing score or sas scene after another to beat down the message of the film. Instead there’s a lot of love and happiness in this awful period in history. Fernanda Torres gave easily one of the best performances of the year, she completely made the film. For as much as it made me tear up, it also made me laugh a lot. It’s a very important movie because the concept of disappearing someone is still being seen to this day. The thought of someone so deeply important in your life just vanishing and no one acknowledges it sounds like a psychological nightmare. It’s got great cinematography as well, lots of beautiful shots of the beach. To me, this is the movie deserving of all of its accolades and nominations.

    9.5/10

Also this is probably one of my favorite instances of an actors parent portraying the same character at a later period in life. So damn good

Torres' daughter also played one of the older versions of the kids. 3 generations of that family was in it. And now Torress is the 2nd Brazilian actress nominated for Best Actress following her mother (also from a Selless film)

So many small and beautiful connections throughout this all

    Will be watching

  • The acting in this from pretty much all of the cast is wonderful but...that's about it. I'm not really raving about it. It was kinda slow for me. Definitely very heavy emotional content that was expressed really well tho.

  • Really liked the hippie family vibes in the first 30 mins but yeah a bit slow in the rest of the movie

Woulda liked to see more perspectives from the kids
