  • Dresser, Stylist, same thing.

I've been seriously thinking about what it is I want to do with my life..
    I hate college, f*** that..
But I also hate the thought of working in a minimum wage, dead end job more.
I also tried working construction (electrician) and I didn't care for that..
So what am I left with?

I want a creative job, I want one with decent pay, I want to work with people, I want to use my hands.

    Tattoo Artist
    Hair Stylist.

Being a barber doesn't interest me nearly as much, it seems like barbering is more quantity over quality and it's a narrower skill set, the skill ceiling with hairdressing is much higher, plus it's better pay.

Tattooing is much harder to get into and it's an unpaid apprenticeship..

Hairdressing is a 2 year qualification (or apprenticeship), it's paid and it's less of a closed shop.

I'm a straight guy, I'm nervous to even tell my parents I'm considering becoming a hair stylist..
But it encompasses everything I'm looking for..
Plus it's just interesting, f*** I don't know, It's just so technical yet creative, it's working with your hands but you're not out on a damn construction site.

Will it f*** with my dating life?
    S*** maybe.
But it won't f*** with it as much as working a dead end minimum wage job will.

Ah I don't know, I'm just sick of doing what I'm suppose to do.
I'll get some funny looks, but I've a feeling I'll be much, much happier in myself.

If anyones out there in a similar situation (hating your current situation), just do what feels right, anything short of that is time wasted.

  • I think anything in the design field would work for you given the description of what you're look for

Barber isn’t quantity over quality. Unless you been getting s*** cuts.
You clearly haven’t seen the Instagram pages and dudes that charge $100 a cut

it's also a unique job that most ppl don't hear about a lot so it's attractive in that sense

hearing someone say 'im a hairdresser' is v attractive as long as you're confident op

Just do you, man. Don't invest your time in something based on the reception you think you'll get for it. Make decisions based on how they'll benefit you.

If you think hairdressing is a good fit for you, give it your best and see what happens.

    oh wow thts crazy

  • this is the diff

if you do something that is more 'accepted' and 'safe' you won't be passionate about it and will get by for being decent at the job. you won't be fulfilled and will look for things outside of work to be fulfilled and not putting your effort in to be the best which will lead you to being stagnant and content with where you're at

if you're doing something you love, even if it's less secure, having the passion to actually want to get better and be the best will take you way further than being decent at the 'safe' job will ever be

this is why you have to follow your passions

  • They only hating cause u gonna be getting that bag

Agreed. Its less of a magnet and more of a filter. Be confident in what you do and it will filter the right people to you OP

Hair dressers make good ass money especially if you advertise yourself on Instagram. It’s a shame schools and parents see it as a job that doesn’t amount to s***.

I know a hair stylist that is booked 5 days out the week, every week. She charge $300 for a head. And does two heads a day. That’s $600 a day. $3000 a week,
12,000 a month. 144k a year assuming you never take a weekday off.

Obviously she’s not doing heads 5 days a week every week. But she does travel a LOT whenever she isn’t booked. And when my girl pulled up to her place the stylist and her partner had two brand new benzes in the parking lot. Hair dresser make good money.

    You're forgetting expenses/overheads.
    Still great money though.

The guys out by me are 100% quantity over quality, there's a couple new guys who are really good but max they're charging is €15, I remember seeing a story in the news about a guy charging €30, that was so outrageous that it made the news..
