And also to add to the conversation we have: because he can't f***ing stop we had s*** like i love it, nah nah nah and other stupid s*** that's just embarassingly bad. Nah. If he finished at the top that would have been perfect. Apologize for my s***ty english language. I am from Slovakia.

who says he can't release great music again

    he's Kanye West

i agree, i just really dislike how half interested he was in making ye and jik. i just can hear it in the album and he even admitted just sleeping for the whole session while interns work on his ye album. JiK... well you can just hear it, he recorded his s*** on f***ing iPhone. Compare that with TLOP (even tho he released it with a few s***ty version songs, he fixed all that), or Yeezus. Albums that he really cared about. Maybe im too harsh on him, and im def wrong for that lol but f***. I don't even consider it his albums tbh. Still a legend. Same autistic tendencies as me. Love the guy. Inspirational.

I see what you're saying but you have to think about the albums in context of where Kanye's coming from. TLOP was when he was peak celebrity status, married to a hot wife in LA raising a family while still being unsatisfied with fame. Similarly, Ye and JIK were released when he was going through big changes in his life (politics, mental health advocacy, religion, etc), and the music reflects that manic energy.

MBDTF sounds rich and luxurious and perfectionist because, again, that's what Ye was doing during that time. he didn't have a family, was trying to redeem himself to the public, and got together with the best of the best to put out an album

Also don't forget 808's was made and recorded in 2 weeks

  • Other than people on the Internet, people IRL don't care about "where would this album rank in this artist's discography". If you're a legend and you're still dropping music, fans will eat it up and appreciate it because it's coming from you. I mean Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen all dropped albums in 2020, and nobody said "he's washed, should've retired years ago"

he records his vocals on iPhone. He maybe can, but he doesn't want to. Even DONDA s*** was recorded on iPhone and you can hear that. His vocals changed and sound cheap. It's because of iPhone.

Yeah agree. It was for him. I just said my opinion that everybody in their right can dismiss and call it trash.

Not every album has to be "10/10" in the eyes of whyte people like Fantano or Pitchfork. Some artists make music for themselves, and to simply express how they're feeling at the time. Ye and JIK are good albums if you think about them in that respect. I don't particularly like JIK but it's clearly something Kanye wanted to release and he did. Having a "non-perfect" album in your discography is fine. Paul McCartney is known as a legend, and I guarantee you not a single person here can name more than 5 of his solo albums (he's released over 30). Same with Bob Dylan

    McCartney
    McCartney II
    McCartney III
    Ram
Chaos and Creation In The Backyard
    Tug Of War

    Highway 61 Revisted
    Blonde On Blonde
    Nashville Skyline
    Blood On The Tracks
    Desire
    Time Out Of Mind

    Your argument is now invalid

Of course. Beat, instrumentals - magnificent. Sample is godly. Now listen to his f***ing vocals that he wont change. Same in Follow God. This s***ty iPhone microphone. Jesus Christ, to make songs that way with that effort in an album that you named "Jesus is King" is just.... not good.

Haha, idk just my thoughts. Of Course Jesus doesn't care. It's not good image for Kanye. And im so mad about JiK. Like, dude could've changed HipHop again by making Gospel/Rap/Electronic music like he did with Ultralight Beam, but instead he did this.

i agree that he didnt change hip hop by infusing it w/ some genuine gospel, but i nonetheless think he did smthn significant by committing to a concept so abnormal in today's entertainment world. it wasn't "gospel album that will appeal to the general public", but i do think it had its appeal to some people and for me personally it was a big factor in trying to understand religion more than how i did previously, which was simply "i don't believe in it and don't get how others do"

seein a big cultural figure like kanye own his religion like that was interesting to me jus cus of how overt it was. no hollywood cleansing or anything like that; he didn't dumb down his goal of simply spreading the gospel by counterbalancing it with secular stuff so that the public receives it better, and i can respect that even if i didn't also like the music jik has

*KSG and then he should have become a full time producer and executive producer. WLR is the best rap album I've heard since KSG so I think that's his new lane.

hey u have a point. sometimes it’s better to end things early even if there’s some good bits later on. end it before it gets to the horrible s***. would be sad not to have the good tlop stuff tho
