Sure dark airy trap R&B has been beaten like a dead horse for some time now, but there’s been some great music to come from it

However; I can’t help but wonder if some artists are still riding that wave instead of doing something fresh out of fear at the risk of not being as “cool” as The Weeknds and Drakes of the world

Most of the R&B artists these days suck and are overhyped. So it's still Miguel, The Weeknd, BJ the Chicago Kid, Frank Ocean, and more recently Brent Faiyaz.

R&B in general nowadays is trash. There’s no real vocalists...people say “r&b is striving” is just because the genre has social media hype. Outside of that, it’s not reflected in streams or sales and it’s proof that the genre needs something/someone to switch things up

Even tho there’s handful of good R&B, the most of it has gotten stale
