I heard that Bowie really was more for the critics and his fans than general audiences back in the ‘70s

Best for me in hip hop is Yasiin Bey (Mos Def)…he’s such a natural it always feels like it’s organic and off a whim but he is in full control everytime I’ve seen him. Kanye “Glow in the Dark” was amazing and then “Yeezus” was just pretty fascinating.

Worst for me was Wu Tang honestly lol. But in their defense, this was way late in their career.

Ohhh and Q-Tip is incredible live too.

Tbe for me that I ever got to see was Prince twice. still the best by far of any genre and this was at the age of 50+.

i just saw Yasiin live two days ago that s*** was amazing bro, seemed to be in a good mood and was enjoying being his eclectic self

actually rhyming to the rhythm of some of his songs is kind of impressive too

Idk about critics but him and Bolan were both obsessed with their connection to the audience

I don’t do concerts like that but seeing Mitski at Pitchforkfest was a spiritual experience.

I saw an 88rising concert in college, idk Higher Brothers music like that, but enjoyed their set.

At the same concert, Joji performed and i hated it. He seemed like a total d***head, hitting on a woman in the audience and generally being obnoxious.

At the same pitchforkfest i didn’t like Injiry Reserve, at the time i wasn’t into their abrasive sound from their last album tho.

For hip hop I’d say the Watch the Throne tour was pretty nuts. Jay was great on his own too. Lupe is a great live rapper too (him doing 9 minutes of Mural without messing up once was one of the more impressive things I’ve seen at a rap concert).

Worst was G Unit. About 50 people on stage at once, all yelling into the mic at once

I’m only putting ‘93 to ‘97 Wu-Tang up against it

    Prince fam @twinkletoez

Absolutely man. So random out of his whole catalogue but both concerts I went to he performed “Cool” and each time was the most fun I’ve had at a concert.

I havent really seen any bad performers tbh. Maybe Lil Wayne because he was so late he only did 15 minutes of his set when I saw him. The best were Fred Again, Nourished by time, Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Snoop, pink panthress, metro, yeat.

Timing d**** for hip hop shows is a doozy. Rappers always come out late after im coming down.

I saw a Shaq DJ set and it was really good. He kept saying “lets have an all girl moshpit!!” Over and over

Goldlink opened for Tyler back on the Igor tour

That bum played maad city right up till Kendrick was about to start rapping to hype up the dead crowd then cut it off and went back to his trash ass music

Yeah I saw tyler blood orange and goldlink all the same night

Goldlink was legit just playing other peoples songs he had nothing to do with and then played crew 3x

    Was this early J Cole?

The tour thug opened up for him

  • Jun 15, 2024

Bruce Springsteen (I know I know) definitely the best I’ve seen, played 4 hours straight no intermission no encore … 32 songs… at 67 years old … religious experience

I hate JCole but dammit if he didn’t put on an excellent show on For Your Eyes Only Tour

Kanye St. Pablo MSG 2016– you had to be there

    Worst show I’ve ever seen?

My dad took me to all the boomer acts as a kid and The Who sucked sweaty cock. Slauson Malone opened for L’Rain a few years ago and I wanted to kms halfway through the set. U2 was actually really good but like easily could have played longer than 2hrs at those prices.

Big Thief at Radio City 2023 was not it. Realized halfway through that I truly have grown out of their music. Such a shame bc their 2022 shows in Brooklyn were off the charts.

Shoutout to MAVI— he played a damn wonderful set a few years ago and I have been a fan ever since.
