"How do we wrap up this uncut gems plot without killing rishi , how about we make his wife get the Howard ending instead"
Damn, the more y'all say it, the more I do feel the vibes that this was definitely written as a series finale lol
Really does beg the question of where things go from here since a lot of storylines were closed quite effectively if it were to stop right here
The vibes are kinda like if Succession got one more season now
I think HBO had told them said make it like it’s over, cause you might not get renewed
Pretty much all the storylines are closed
I’m interested to know how many people come back for season 4
Harper going home and seeing her mom is the big closure point I feel. It’s been a hanging thread of the series. Thought she’d be forced to after S2 finale but now she’s finally doing it. Also think there’s one last hurrah in store for Harper and Eric after that last convo
I think they’ve been pretty good tho at writing like it could be their last each season, the stories and characters just progressed so much now that we are actually near the natural end
Lotta great explanation from the creators in the new Variety interview. They basically did write it with the intention of completing a story, and have the new challenge of figuring out S4. They're already writing the first two episodes currently.
Even HBO questioned them deciding to blow up Pierpoint and they go into stuff on Rishi here as well
Konrad Kay: The truth is, a lot of it was trying to tell the best possible story in the eight hours that we knew we were going to be able to have. So to be frank, we were not thinking about Season 4, Season 5 of the show. We were thinking, what is the most complete story? And, a bit like Season 2 with Harper getting fired, it felt narratively satisfying.

we thought, God, are we doing the right thing? We had this back and forth with our producers, with HBO. They were like, “This is the precinct of the show.” As Konrad said, we get excited by the fact that we can just blow everything up in general. We write ourselves into corners. We write ourselves out of them. We love the idea that the show can be totally different season to season. This was us putting a gun to our heads and saying, “If we were to come back, what would we do?” When we explained it like that. HBO was like, “OK, go for it.”

Industry been harder than Mad Men pause
Industry won’t go as hard if it made in 2007
Respect legacy television
I don't even know where to begin, but just this episode in its own brilliantly summarizes the main theme(s) of this show which are money and the morals you are willing to sacrifice in order to obtain such.
We saw that throughout this finale in varying degrees... and honestly the decisions that the characters made aren't that surprising when you really sit with it. Yasmin fans Y'ALL NEED TO HEAR THAT LAST SENTENCE ESPECIALLY LMAO
But yeah, I'm really excited to see where the hell this goes next season and I hope the rest of the world catches on to how insanely good this show has become and that the quality hasn't even touched the ceiling yet.
GAG DUDMIN FANS AGAIN
they saying there was confirmation that Bill died ???
She mentioned to Eric at the end of the ep that she'll see him later at his memorial
They coulda handled time in this ep better but its clear some amount had passed and Bill died. They smoothly made a skip near the end or something

I didn’t catch the time jump at all i need to rewatch
Honestly tho i'm kinda confused myself cus it seemed like Eric either didn't know himself, forgot about it or wasn't invited
If there wasn't a skip that means Bill died fairly soon after that last appearence. I'm mentioning a skip cus of Harper's Forbes thing and Yas making progress on wedding and getting news coverage too. Rob also had time to leave and start his own thing
god bless the writers behind this show
really felt like i was watching peak tv every sunday for the last 2 months
Nah f*** this episode, over the shows treatment of rishi storyline
:beynah:
Rest of cast storyline: marriage, new country, retirement
Rishi storyline:

Guy was carrying the show for 2 seasons smh how does that ending even make sense, feel like I seen more criminal realism on penguin ffs lmaoo
I think HBO had told them said make it like it’s over, cause you might not get renewed

Definitely felt like a series finale. Especially with Rob's happy ending (pause).

Rob had time to leave and go Turkey and get a brand new hair line.
So is Henry dying? He shared a needle with junkies I thought thats what was implied.
when yas asks rob if he won the lotto and he says "of course not" as foreshadowing for their relationship
when yas gets rid of alondra for knowing her history/weakness the same way eric did with kenny
rishi's wife having a blonde haircut and being named diana after yas dressed up as princess diana earlier in the season and ending up dead
so good
