I notice when KTT talks about the influence of a rapper yall just talk about how many clones they have as if anyone cares about the 1000s of ripoffs that are being tossed around. Here’s the thing: influence doesn’t actually matter THAT much. Sure, there are a few times where it does. For example Lil Wayne to Young Thug IS one that matters because they are both actual CREATIVE artists that make stuff worth listening to that isn’t just disposable. But I don’t care about all these rappers that are trying to bite other rappers just because it’s what they listen to and they can’t be creative. Influence only matters when the rappers offspring are actually creative, impactful people that try to do their own thing, that’s real influence, not having a bunch of clones.

typically influence is used when stans have no tangible evidence that their favorite artist is good

or when there is no tangible evidence that an amazing artist isnt great they will say "but he has no influence" just because it's something that is almost subjective

So basically you’re trying to say Young Thug isn’t influential?

Not as much as people say. But again that’s not a terrible thing. Also he’s a pretty new artist so I give it time

People just exaggerate how much influence certain artists have because it’s their favs

Artists who are actually influential to current music and music of the last decade: Wayne, Gucci, T-Pain, Soulja Boy, Lil B, Keef, Future, Nicki, Drake, Kendrick.

Anyone else is just an exaggeration because other artists sound just as generic as they do. I know I missed some but that’s the gist of real influence

Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and Young Thug all started as what you would call "boring" Wayne clones. Look where they are now. Your line of reasoning is dumb. Artists develop and influence makes itself more apparent over time
