Dave Blunts is not just another meme rapper. He's arguably the purest amalgamation of the 2020s, its chaos, its emptiness, its absurdity and its sincerity. I've been bumping his stuff religiously these past 2-3 months or so. I've spun those reference tracks for Cuck literally hundreds of times. WW3 reference is absolutely insane. This guy has incredible melodies.

But what really hit me is how seemingly dumbed down and completely stripped of subtlety everything about him is, the surface level irony and complete lack of nuance. But beneath all that (and I've seen some of you guys mention this) his music is almost unbearably sad. He's essentially channeling something I'd call neo/post-emo, a sound that embodies and lowkey embraces the nihilism of our decade. The existential loneliness bred by hyper individualism and the fact that we pushed "be yourself" so far that the self has essentially collapsed into irrelevance. Nobody cares about your emotions anymore, because everyone else is drowning in their own.

Most of his s*** is pretty much a mirror held up to a society that laughs at its own despair because there's nothing else to do. It's performance art masquerading as disposable content which is why the Kanye linkup makes so much sense to me. It's another genius move by Kanye.
