I don't think people wanna hear music about cars, chains and b****es when the current environment is in this condition. But that could be me.

Realistically speaking, I don't feel that this current state will have an affect on the industry. The target audience of rap these days probably won't adhere to messages above what they came to listen to hiphop for, generally speaking. It's like thinking that kids will come to the candy shop to buy sugar free candy because high sugars are proven to be linked to obesity.

And record companies know this, so they will use formulas to establish their artists. Formulas that won't include current affairs.

I would compare trap to MCU films, their purpose isn't to be some amazing masterpiece like The Godfather/TPAB, but they are fun to watch/Listen to. there's a place for both bangers and art in hip hop

  • Jun 4, 2020

I wish it wasn't but theres a time and place for everything tbh
