feels like Uptown Funk isn't the only song the GAP Band could sue him for tbh
I hope this next album
1. defines who he is as an artist, cuz his discog feel all over the place
2. brings something new to the table. everything he's done before is just repeating a 70 or 80s act. It feels like karaoke sometimes. Not all the time, but every so often it just feels old (idk a better word to use)
Yes for his songwriting. 24k magic also a classic just off the strength of James Fauntleroy pen

yeah he wants to be that throwback act. i'd rather that than some of the more polished pop he had earlier on in his career.
it's weird how an artist can feel 'old' for doing a throwback style but then others feel fresh when they do it. Amy Winehouse still sounds fresh today but was a throwback in everything from the melodies and production to her look.
Maybe he's just missing the exciting attitude, character or lyrics someone like her had.
24K is a great album. Not as good as I initially thought on release but still easily his best work
Yall are using the word legend loosely these days
Who are some current legends iyo? If any?

Do you think the weekend falls into category too now? It’s like the farther his career has gone the deeper he falls into being some 80s pop act

How much of AH genuinely feels like an 80s record to you? The only songs that “sound” 80s are BL and In Your Eyes

Scared to live too tbh
Why is everyone only talking about 24k? Is that his only good album
No UJ is good too

Those 2, the first 4 song’s, Faith, save your tears
I don’t think the album is bad it’s just if people are gonna call Bruno deriverative we gotta throw the weekend in there too

Nah not yet. Even the way they produce his songs it doesn't feel it was made years ago in the same way a lot of Bruno's songs do.
With the Weeknd's most recent big singles Blinding Lights sounds 80s, but Heartless and the new JuiceWrld song aren't really throwbacks at all.
80s influence always been strong on the Weeknd, Drake and Kanye's R&B but i think they always find a way to do something new with it. Bruno has tracks that literally sound like they came out in the 80s
Why is everyone only talking about 24k? Is that his only good album
It got the most critical acclaim and got more black people as his fans since it was old school R&B (even if it was branded as pop).
I think the tour was 215 shows. That's wayyyyyy too long lol

and he gave the same energy for every performance

its my fav album of his! I dont skip any song on it, on his other albums i skip 1-2 songs
and he gave the same energy for every performance
I didn't get to see it live but when it came here everyone said it was great.
I think the album itself was so great because it was only 9 songs. There's no excuse to have filler on an album that short. Not taking anything away from it, typically longer albums means a few songs are destined to be skips, unless it's an undeniable classic

He also had a Vegas residency as well
, he milked tf outta 24k. Much respect though he’s using his most valuable asset which is performing

When he performs them live he does the songs a bit different too, different tempo / beat / breakdowns etc, its amazing

okay. How is his setlist? Like I said earlier, idk who he is as an artist. It feels like a lot of his discog is all over the place and there's no center.
I mean he doesn't have his own sound. Does he changed his pop and rock songs to fit R&B or is the set list based on the album?
