Recently watched Rose of Nevada. That's his serious, artsy movie. Nothing going on there. Just a tall handsome guy they let appear in movies.
Anyone seen One Night Only? Anyone excited for the Possession remake? Seems like it's a full court press for him being Bond.
Good in Masters of the Air and Eternity. Everything else I’ve seen him in has left either no impression or a negative one.

I guess that's part of the problem. He's rarely in anything I'd want to watch.

Honestly this pretty much half of the Bonds careers before being Bond it's not really a job for niggas with a high ceiling.
Only Connery and Craig did anything really afterwards which makes sense because they're considered the best Bonds but otherwise you just have to look good shirtless and deliver one liners well which is why Dalton didn't last cause he didn't have either

Brosnan was on a successful television show (Remington Steele) and is like the definition of a star persona. Is he a flexible, real actor? No, but he always had gravitas.
That's the only reason Dalton got the job for a couple of movies. The TV show getting in the way. Another guy whose charisma flies off the screen by the way
thought one night only was a decent romcom but apparently i’m in the minority, looking forward to that neuromancer show

I love Bronsnan but Remington Steele was a detective but essentially Bond

He got it because they already seen him be a tall guy in suit on TV for 5 years he fit the mold not because of any gravitas
I think both Brosnan and Dalton careers post Bond were way better though because they started playing against type but pre Bond they were about even with Turner neither was anything special

I'm the one who brought the show up. Did you mean to reply to someone else

No I'm responding to your point saying "it was a successful TV show" by noting that yeah it was successful but he was essentially playing James Bond on it and it got him the role because he was a safe choice.
He didn't have some crazy gravitas I think he just got it because he was infact a tall good looking guy who had already did 5 seasons in a suit
You just jealous tbh

Max Irons had Condor. Eddie Redmayne has The Jackal. Leo Woodall had Prime Target. British guys are always doing shows like that to position themselves for Bond. Are any of them going to play Bond?
Martin Campbell probably got GoldenEye because of his mini series Edge of Darkness which I watched last year. Joe Don Baker from that show went on to play a Bond villain as well. But Bob Peck didn't land the role of Bond just because he was the lead.
And who would say Brosnan doesn't have gravitas. That's like all he has
I wanted him to be Bond pretty bad but made a wild 180 on boy after one night only TRAILERS.
I don’t think he has a chance in hell now.

I still think he’s the best out of all the heavily rumored names (if the Jack Lowden rumor has any truth to it that will change things)
I certainly still prefer him to Elordi even if pound for pound Elordi is likely the stronger overall actor.
He doesn’t have Remington Steele like Brosnan, or The Saint like Moore, but I see enough in him to where I think he can do the Bond stuff well enough. He was horrifically miscast in One Night Only, but that also has plenty of problems beyond just him.
was fine in eternity, want to see one night only
pretty sure thats all ive seen of him since I realized him and josh oconnor are different people
just watched one night only
straight to netflix tier rom com

I’m so against an Australian Bond, lol
I feel like it’d be better to have this convo about Glen Powell
