Well I think the most important thing is a basic understanding of 4 bar rhyme schemes (AAAA, AABB, AABA, ABAB). Without that, your music is unlistenable to damn near anyone.

That being said, you won't blow up without some level of unique charisma.

One of I would say. There's a lot of talented rappers out there that can't make it big due to their lack of charisma

Some names that come to mind are Wayne, Uzi, Cam, Future and Young Thug

lmao I thought you were naming Wayne, Cam etc.. as examples of dudes that didn't make it cause they lacked charisma at first.

It really might be, I noticed it's really what makes all of my favorite rappers great not beat selection or bars. Good bars are nothing if the rapper can't deliver them in a nice way

Question; do you consider "menancing" sounding rappers eg. Prodigy, Jadakiss, Conway, Scarface etc.. to be charismatic?

And on another note who do y'all think are the most charismatic rappers ever?
lemme just do a top 10 of charisma

    Rozay
    Hov
    Cam
    Wayne
    Pac
    Biggie
    Kanye / A$AP Rocky
    50
    Snoop Dogg (90s rapper)
    Gucci

charisma isn't even a real thing, so no. just a made up term people give you when you're popular/ people like you. I guarantee almost every famous musician that has ever lived has been called charismatic, despite them having vastly different backgrounds, personalities, and styles

  • It's definitely a top 3 qualification (that, production & flow/ voice) for me as far as determining whether or not I f*** with a rapper's music. Prodigy & Scarface are definitely charismatic as well. As for other rappers that I think are charasmatic:

    Biggie
    2Pac
    Jay Z
    Nas
    A$AP Rocky
    Andre 3000
DaBaby (say what you want about his flow, but he's definitely charasmatic)
    Mos Def
    Snoop Dogg
    Redman
    50 Cent
    Drake (to an extent)
    ODB
    DMX
    Raekwon
    Ghostface Killiah

Cap. Even tho like nav, there is a reason he is clowned and disrespected. Little to no charisma

Travis can't really be charismatic by definition since he has no personality.

Agree 2 Chainz is so charismatic

  • Nov 26, 2020

Charisma makes it easier for you to make up for your other flaws

On the other hand a flawless but not charismatic rapper will have a harder time making up for their lack of charisma

But Travis has to be charismatic somehow, otherwise he wouldn't have such a strong fanbase

IMO it's more of an indirect charisma based on his music and aesthetics being mainly centered on being/sounding cool, which is why people on here criticize him for a lack of substance

I tihnk that a lot of today's rappers focus more on aesthetic than charisma eg. Uzi, Trav and Carti imo. It's a shift the genre has had.
