Didn’t know Elton John had the reputation of ruining his legacy with a bunch of albums. I also don’t think Coldplay have that issue because it’s not like they have a lauded discography to begin with. although their albums up until when they started making EDM flavoured music had some nice songs on them

yeah i feel like its only true for the most extreme cases really. and even then probably unrelated to the actual music

What legacy

Their discography is consistent. Music of the Spheres is kinda their worst album, but it’s not bad - just a little repetitive, its like they already did all those songs before. But it has good songs. And their previous album, Everyday Life, was great and different from everything they have done before

I love A Head Full of Dreams tbh (great era in my life) and Ghost Stories is one of their best albums

People still mad to this day because they didn’t stay stuck on the sound of their first album. No one wants to hear that emo s*** in 2024. Who wants an artist or band to make the same album constantly?

They wouldn’t become one of, or maybe even THE, biggest musical act of the century globally by making sad guitar songs. They are stadium pop band that makes radically optimistic music!
