I liked the album and think it's great but not sure I'd call it "classic". The same way most of us have probably searched "best hip hop albums of the 90s" or "best of 2000s" people after us will eventually do with best of 2010s. GKMC and TPAB will for sure be on those lists. Not sure about DAMN. But there will definitely be people who stumble on it even if it's not because they'll naturally get there if they like GKMC and TPAB.
Maybe I'm off but I feel like what really makes a classic is as much what the NEXT generation thinks of it as the ones that came up with an album. Because the albums that get CONSISTENTLY hailed as classics are the ones with staying power beyond just people who liked them in the moment.
I never even knew Joe Budden said this and I've never liked this album. I love GKMC and TPAB though and think they are all time classics.
DAMN to me is a pretty average album, some really good songs but the majority I dont ever go back to
Certified. Critically Acclaimed. Enjoyed by hip-hop heads and casuals alike. Biggest rap album commercially of 2017. Pulitzer Prize. How is it not?
think so
his personal bar just that damn high that it pales in comparison to his other classics
Yes. But not cause it won an award created by old white men. Y’all care way too much about white validation
haven’t listened to it full in like 2 years

Most awards and accolades are created by old white men (Grammys, oscars, even stuff like mvps, etc) doesn’t mean we shouldn’t count them as accompaniments/achievements. They are all apart of the artist legacy.
