Personal classic of mine. Definitely gave me a rebirth of my love for sci-fi genre. It’s my favorite alien film of all time. Imo it gave a “realistic” depiction of aliens coming to Earth. Then the fact that first contact wasn’t in New York or America in general really wowed me at the time tbh. Arbitrary thing, but damn near any alien movie you think of, the setting is New York.

Looking back, it's up there as one of the best sci-fi films of the last 10 years. Shame Neill Blomkamp never quite reached the same heights with his follow up films.

it's really forgetful and the ending was terrible

Will have to watch and let you know!

That last sentence aint true at all, just off the top of my head:

Alien / aliens / close enconters of the third kind / the thing

All classics, none set in NY
