He never was but his hits helped shape the last few years pop and rap be on top you can’t deny that
What is the net effect of that if every potential new rapper now has to compete with the idea of making f***in bachata and trap music at the same time or else he cant “keep the party going” or whatever they was saying dot isnt/cant/wont do on top of also having to be a big 3 tier rapper lol

His last few albums haven’t been quiet good let’s be honest take the fluff off and you got some classics in those albums he’s just trying to chart now. The equivalent of McDonald’s music at that point and I’m pretty sure someone will indeed take that out of context

"Lets be honest"
"Can't deny that"
Bro just say that is your opinion, my honest opinion is he has not made as good of albums as in the past but most of the music is still just as enjoyable and replayable TO ME.
Idk why people always gotta act like their opinion is a general fact and we who don't agree are just lying lol

It is mostly mine and friends isn’t that what most of this is
Doing an album like FATD without the DLC patch he added after reading the reactions definitely is enough to make people rightfully second guess it
but then at that point is kanye west hip hop? or kid cudi or travis scott? they’re not solely hip hop artists but them at their core is hip hop and i think especially a guy like drake who will bar out for 4+ on old school production and has personal and intricate storytelling and is willing to embrace responding to disses from others where he really has nothing to gain and has been doing this for nearly 20 years you can’t really say he’s not hip hop imo
feels like dude only puts out projects so he can say he has all of the top 25 slots on the Top 100 songs or whatever. The projects themselves don't seem cohesive.

the quality isn’t what it used to be. you can enjoy it and i enjoy a lot of his new music but he isn’t putting out the stuff he was 10+ years ago which is fine because he blew up in 09 who has that kind lf longevity

CLB and FATD were kinda flat but had their moments he kinda was just putting those out for the sake of putting them out it felt like

any album as long as those 2 were, damn near 90 minutes each, is bound to have moments, I just think that now, it seems like his bigger focus is " Let me get these stats/pad my numbers" instead of, " I want everyone to be talking about this album for years to come"

im with you. i think he was focused for her loss and honestly nevermind but the other two were just like he got the phone call from the label “drake put something out” and he turned in what he had

yes because what would you call what theyre making if its not rap, its pretty much them autotune rapping outside of the cudi nirvana type album
The difference with drake is honestly since the subject matter is about women and its melodic it pretty much feels like r&b music and even reach for club/etc type music whereas the other dudes just making autotune type s*** in their own world, whether its lyrical or sucks or not being another thing
And i havent listened to vultures 2 for this a***ysis

probably is a safe bet that his label bosses have a set-up to where he has to give them some body of work every year so that the gravy train keeps rolling. We'll never know, but just outside looking it, his music just gives off this " I don't really care at this point" attitude

i see what you’re saying fair point i guess it just depends on how strict your definition is. vultures 2 is as much of an album as donda 2 was and kanye’s deteriorated so much mentally idk how closely i’ll listen to bully if it every drops
