  • He is using way more autotune on his singing these days. When is the last time we got a Hold on we're going home?

  • Probably. Happens to pretty much everyone as you get older and the more you use your voice.

Bro releases so many tracks and tours so much his voice is probably a bit fried. As singers age as well, it can change.

There are plenty of songs he sings where he sounds fine, I think he is just probably overly sensitive to changes in his voice so he jumps to using more autotune. But he seems to like to use autotune more now as a creative tool.

Releasing a long album in $$$4u, 40 tracks for these albums, a tour and all of the tracks that didn't make the cut has probably exhausted his chords. He needs to take a break or chill on the singing and just release rap features for a bit.

Yeah his voice has changed a lot, was listening to The Motion and realized we'll probably never get him sounding like he did on that hook ever again.

I think the new vocals have their own charm but they obviously don't beat his old singing voice.

Views is the album with his best and cleanest vocals overall. There are some songs on More Life and Scorpion with a similar clean sound.

In the 2020s the autotune became more noticable for sure.

Never had it in the first place

He did manage to make it sound passable back in the days though

He’s not a trained singer that smokes hookah often and vocal focus he practices isn’t primarily singing. his vocal cords are fried cause his barrier for control is pretty low. I don’t think it has anything to do with time as everyone is different. I think he’s just throwing too much at himself and not taking any time to care about singing techniques and that’s why it sounds different

He didn’t really start until HNVM. He has some vintage singing moments on CLB

IMO the boring answer is that he's both losing his singing voice AND using autotune as an instrument

He never had a 'strong' vocal to begin with, but really did improve a bit through the 2010's and still has moments (Polar opposites, bahamas promises) where you can hear it,

but overall it has as much to do with melody and song direction than anything.

With the right singing technique, a vocal coach who knows what he‘s doing & healthy habits (like no smoking & drinking) you would still be able to sing your ass off when you’re old tbh. But yea I don’t see Drake as a singer singer and I doubt he ever took s*** that serious if we‘re being honest

  • I think he showed it back on Classic, but the mixing is super boxy and crunchy and the effects he uses stifle the singing voice quite a bit.

He stopped using yelling voice too like on "back to back" and keeps spamming the whispering voice like he does on "Knife Talk".
